K: Hi!
Ich: How do you do!
K: How’re you?
Ich: Pretty good
K: (hat nichts verstanden und fragt noch einmal) How’re you?
Ich: I’M FINE!
K: OK Are these documents yours? (zeigt auf meine Fragebögen, das Foto)
Ich: Yes
K: Are you sure?
Ich: Yope!
K: Where’re you going to work?
Ich: M.P.company,Ww,NJ.
K: Who is the governor on NJ state?
Ich: ??? I’m sorry? I don’t remember!
K: And who is the president of US?
Ich: B. Obama!
K: All right, and what do you study?
Ich: (ich habe 'where' verstanden) Kazan Cooperative Institute
K: NO! I mean what do you study??
Ich: Oyy, economics!
K: Who is the minister of economics in Russia?
Ich: Äh... German Gref!
K: Very well. Your English is good. And what’s your favorite movie?
Ich: (habe das Erste gesagt, was mir in den Sinn kam) Comedy – Alone at home!
K: Oy, you mean Home alone. Do you really like it?
Ich: YES! (ich liebe ihn einfach)
K: OK You’ll get your Visa! Everything is fine! Have a nice summer!
Ich: Good bye!

-Officer: Hello
-Me: Hi (lächeln!!!)
-O: So... let me see... You are an exchange student, aren’t you?
-M: Yes, Sir
-O: And what are you going to do in America? Are you going to work?
-M: I'm going to work as a waitress at an Italian restaurant. You may laugh, but working as a waitress has been one of the dreams of my life. Indeed, every time I am at the restaurant with my parents or friends, I want to be at the place of the waiter.
-O: (Der Beamte lacht tatsächlich) Well, it’s a hard job, believe me!
-M: Yes, I’ve heard about it. Well, I’ll be given an opportunity to try it out!
-O: Were do you study?
-M: (danach wird mit einer eleganten Geste der Studentenausweis, das Notenheft, Bescheinigungen der Universität herausgeholt und eine Ode an die Alma Mater beginnt) I’m enrolled in the program of the Russian-French University which means that I am a student at the Linguistic University of NN, where I study French and English, and at the Economics Department of the NN State University. That’s why when I graduate in two years I’ll be given two diplomas!
-O: (Blättert geschäftig im Notenheft, schaut sich die Stempel im Studentenausweis an) I see...Very nice...May I have a look at your previous passport with the previous visas? This is the new one, isn’t it?
-M: Yes, the passport that you have is new, because the old one has already expired. Here is my old passport. As you see, I've traveled a lot in my life. I've been many times to Europe: Germany and France. I strongly believe that travelling is the greatest thing in the world! One gets to know other cultures, mentalities, meets new interesting people and practices the language. Alone changing the atmosphere makes it worth to go on trip!
-O: Ok, well...thank you, your documents are all right, everything is fine and you can pick up your visa within few days. Good luck and have a nice trip!
-M: Thank you. Bye!

K: Good morning.
Ich: Good morning. (lächle breit.)
K: Summer Work and Travel, right?
Ich: Right.
K: So, last summer you were...?
Ich: Tennessee, Chattanooga. (Gesichtsausdruck maximal ehrlich)
K: Excuse me?..
Ich: TENNESSEE!
K: Oh, oh, ok, I see. Tennessee. Last time you came back late....
K: ....October, 15... Right?
Ich: Yes, sir.
K: You missed some classes, right?
K: (Verwirrung im Gesicht) – No??? But your classes start....?
Ich: Oh, sure, the first of September. But first two months our schedule is rather unstable, classes are not very serious. It was not difficult for me to catch up. So, I didn’t have any problems. (wieder ehrliche Augen.)
K: Ok.... So, you visited the US once. Why do you want to do it again?
Ich holte tief Luft und... platzte plötzlich heraus: - I just enjoyed it. I like it!
Where are you going this summer?
Ich: Maryland.
K: Ok. Can you show me your student ticket?
Ich: Here you are. (reiche den Studentenausweis).
K: Ok... Are you a sophomore? (Zweitsemester, falls es jemand nicht weiß)
Ich: No, I’m in my forth year...
K: Oh!!! O’kaaaaay!!! They just make these stamps so close to each other that I can barely see them.
K: Oh, ok. Ok. So, everything is ok with your documents. We are doing the same as last time, aren’t we?“
K: Everything is fine. But.... We have some problems with your sponsor organization, they didn’t provide us with correct information. It’s not your fault. You can’t get your visa till we fix the problem. Ok? (legt meine Papiere auf einen Stapel)
Ich: Ok....(nicke verständnisvoll.) My passport... (strecke die Hand aus)
K: No, no! We will keep it till your company fixes the problem. Ok?
Ich: Oh! Sure!!!
K: Good bye!
Ich: Good bye!
