I would like to highlight a fact that should have been written in big letters on the calendar: it was already something like February 20th. As you can understand, this completely cuts off any chances of getting a visa in March, and significantly lowers them in general.

The fact that I spent 6 months of my precious life on something that ultimately turned into 2 hateful letters marked 'not seasonal work/does not contribute to cultural exchange' made me, to put it mildly, furious and unleashed rays of hatred directed at my long-suffering husband, those around me, and the entire bureaucratic mess.

After writing to Pamela (that wonderful woman from point 2 of the first post) about my misfortunes, I received an unexpected reply with an offer to send me an invitation to work, but, to put it mildly, illegally. But unfortunately, I had to refuse her offer, as the percentage of a student getting a non-relative visitor visa is +/- 0%.

Continuing to suffer terribly from the imperfection of the world, I gritted my teeth and sat down at Google maps, looking for a new job as a waitress in restaurants that are not very focused on the meat industry.

After sending another thousand and a half resumes, I received a few replies.

I will describe one unsuccessful case.

A man replied to me, inviting me to work as a waitress in a restaurant (very civilized, judging by the photos). He scheduled an interview, which I waited for while sitting on pins and needles with a sour face and Skype turned on. So, the time came, but the man was nowhere to be found. And then I get an email from him saying, 'sorry, but I already hired two students I spoke to 10 minutes ago.' As a person with a disgusting character, I wrote a very rude email saying, 'you are a rare a**hole, we have nothing more to talk about.' Now it's funny even to me, but back then I was outraged to the core.

In general, after going through a couple more circles of hell, I finally found an excellent option in the glorious state with the hard-to-pronounce name Massachusetts. And the sweetest thing about all this was that the owner is an Indian, who, as you know, are vegetarians by definition, and it's already nice to meet a like-minded person in such a hostile world.

The city of my intended work is proudly called Worcester and is, if you believe Wikipedia, the second largest (or oldest O_o - in general, the second) after Boston in New England.

So, I sent the offer for verification on April 20th and began to wait agonizingly again.

And in the end, I was rewarded with a scheduled interview date on May 4th.
