From Atlanta, we headed to Myrtle Beach – it's kind of like Miami. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos because, to be honest, after the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas, nothing could impress me anymore! We rented a hotel room right near the beach. As soon as we stepped out and decided to take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean, clouds rolled in out of nowhere in literally a minute, and it started pouring!! We didn't even have time to run back to the hotel!! And the thunder was so loud! Ugh, terrifying! I got soaked completely! The rain stopped after 5 minutes, but I had basically already gone for a swim )))) I decided to go to sleep. And I slept until the next day!! This trip from west to east is just so exhausting!! It's a good thing I didn't go swimming, it turns out there are jellyfish there that sting painfully!!
Next, we drove straight to Washington. No photos from Washington either )))) But I'll say one thing: the White House isn't as big as it seems!!! That's where we parted ways with my travel companions because they decided to stay there for a couple of days, and I needed to get to NY faster! In total, I spent about 300 bucks on this leg of the trip!!! That covers gas and food!! I must say the roads are gorgeous everywhere!!! Although gas got more expensive from west to east!! In Washington, it was almost 3 times more expensive than in the west! And all the roads there are toll roads!! I left Washington from Chinatown by bus to NY! It only cost 20 bucks!! And the comfort was the same as Greyhound or Amtrak!
So, here I am in NY!! I arrived at night and was horrified by the sight of Chinatown!! It's dirty everywhere, bags of trash, and rats the size of a cat!! Before arriving, I, of course, found students again through the same "VKontakte" where I could stay for a couple of days!! I called them in the morning, they explained where to come, and overall, they welcomed me properly!!! I was in NY for only 3 days, living in Brooklyn! I was changing my departure date! And I ran into difficulties! At the airport, at the airline counter, they told me to contact my tour operator! Well, okay, I called and explained the situation, but they told me that it's the weekend in Kazakhstan and the airline office is closed!! I checked online to see if there were tickets available for the coming days, and there were!! I went back to the airport and told the guy the situation; he checked his database and said, "No, there are no seats available," and gave me the number for the company's support in NY!! I called them, found everything out, and they told me which dates I could fly to get to Almaty with a transfer! It was either that day or tomorrow, the next one was only in 2 weeks!! I decided to go to the airport again, having checked online beforehand that I could fly today and tomorrow without problems! I go up to him and tell him everything, that "the dispatcher on the phone told me I need to come to you." He checks his database again and says there are no seats, I'm already angry, I say I just looked online, he checks again!! Then he called someone, talked, and told me I could fly today if I come at 6 PM!! But I wouldn't have had time to get my things, since it was already almost 6 PM! I told him I'd rather fly tomorrow, and he said, "Fine, come tomorrow, we'll get it all done."
The next day I went to Manhattan to buy a laptop at Best Buy. I arrived by subway, found Best Buy, and spent an hour choosing this laptop! I picked it out, went to the counter, and he said, "It's not in stock, but it's at another store." He showed me how to get there by subway, I got there, and I couldn't find it!! I had to go back and ask him again, and I even managed to get on the wrong subway line!! Good thing I didn't go too far )))) The subway in NY is really confusing!! Well, in the end, I asked him for more details, this time I didn't mess up, found everything, and bought it!!! I went, grabbed my things, and headed to the airport!! I arrived and changed my tickets! When I was boarding the plane, the same guy who didn't believe there were seats and didn't want to change my departure date was standing there )) he shook my hand and said, "You did it," naturally in English )))
That's how my long summer ended!!!!!
P.S. I would have written more detailed and colorfully, but I wouldn't have had time )))) I wrote everything on the 31st.
