After arriving from Moscow, we joined an endless line called "Non U.S. Citizens." After standing there for a couple of hours, I finally reached the window where I had to hand over my documents. They asked me what job I would be doing and what I was studying back home, after which they stamped my passport and let me through.
The Washington airport is terribly long. I walked straight for 15 or 20 minutes and still didn't reach the end, stopping at a bar where the guys and I, tired as dogs, sat down for a drink since we had three hours to kill between flights.
Actually, there was plenty to do at the airport: I managed to meet two Brazilians and an Argentine, a bunch of Russians, and I also chatted with the Duty-Free shop assistants to start getting used to the American language.
Our flight was delayed for about three hours due to bad weather. In the end, after boarding the plane, I fell asleep and woke up only when we had already landed, never having seen the lights of New York at night.
