Boston, part two, day two
The day started very early, we were woken up around 9... I couldn't believe my watch, it was still so early!! But as soon as my Russian ears heard about a free breakfast, my sleepiness vanished instantly!!))) See part one for the breakfast details)
After a very, very hearty breakfast, we went to find that very lawschool to see it in the daylight. Harvard occupies quite a large area, and while we were walking around, about 2 hours passed. The law school stirred up a storm of emotions in me, it's amazing, you can see how knowledge flows from here and I wanted so much to get into at least one lecture... but, unfortunately, the lectures were starting only in a week. While strolling around the campus, we discovered a freebie... there were tables set up on the lawn with lots of goodies, there were even waiters! Well, it was just lunchtime)))) we were told that picnics of this kind with free treats happen here all the time))
Of course, we really didn't want to leave Harvard, but we had something else very interesting to see, because we were heading to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Some people don't like museums, exhibitions... But, it seems to me that the Kennedy Museum should appeal to everyone, even if you start, excuse the expression, feeling sick after 5 minutes in a museum. What didn't we see... various campaign materials for Kennedy, what the studio where he debated looked like, magazines and newspapers that wrote about him, various photographs of Kennedy himself and his wife, even the president's personal office! The museum is located in a very beautiful place, on the waterfront, and admission costs about 8 dollars, if my memory serves me right. By the way, you can get to the museum by a free bus)) Almost forgot, they show the news there, including that very report from the day Kennedy was shot... In general, I advise everyone to visit this museum, it's very captivating!!!
When we were returning to the city center, we met a Russian boy. It was funny. Imagine, some guy comes up to you and says: "Hi, are you Russian? I recognized the Russian faces right away!". Wow!! We immediately started answering him rudely, like, you're a Russian face yourself, it's not nice to talk to girls like that... Well, that's how we became friends)) His name is Andrey, he was born in America, his parents are from Russia, in general, a typical situation, I've met many like him here. He turned out to be a wonderful guy and, dropping everything, he went to give us a tour of the city. Without him, we wouldn't have seen so many of Boston's charms! He even told us history, since he studied history at Harvard himself!!! We, of course, envied him)) What I remember most is the story that in the Italian quarter, I think, people still smell compote because in almost 1700, compote (or jam, I don't remember))) spilled here. And they say that it has been preserved in the ground... funny)))
Andrey showed us Boston through completely different eyes, we were lucky!! He took us to the famous market, which today functions as a food hall, I mean, it's a place with a bunch of eateries. Here we met another Russian boy, this was also unusual. We were sitting drinking coffee from Starbucks and we see some guy staring at us... Liza said to him: "What are you staring at!!!". He replied in Russian that he just heard that we were also Russian and wanted to get to know us somehow... Well, who knew he was Russian, we wouldn't have been so rude)))
Vlad turned out to be just like us, I mean a J-1 visa holder) He worked in a soap shop and gave us each a fragrant bar of soap.
Closer to the evening, the question of where to spend the night arose again... Andrey told us that at Harvard, if you make it before 9, you can go into the lab, and there are beds there... Cool!! And that some buildings are open around the clock so that students can come to study... so you can find a soft spot there too!! But we didn't have to go back to Harvard, because Vlad said they were having some kind of party today and he was inviting us... Well, the accommodation issue was quickly resolved)))
The party was great, even very Russian-style, we drank cocktails and sang to the guitar)))
Well, that's almost all the adventures in the chic city of Boston!! Definitely go there, you will like it!!!!
