December 3

I believe everyone has a dream. My dream has always been to see as many countries as possible and meet interesting people from all over the world. Oddly enough, America wasn't even on my list, as I always thought you had to be at least a millionaire or rob a bank to do that.

Luckily for me, while scrolling through the internet, I stumbled upon an ad saying "America is waiting for you" and decided it was a sign. That's how my three-month journey began.

At the very beginning, I didn't have to do much. I just sent the required documents and followed instructions.

Closer to May, everything went sideways. There were some issues with my application, so I had to wait for the DS-2019 form longer than expected. I lost my folder with documents, but luckily it was found after 3 days of searching. I couldn't schedule an interview at the time I needed, so every morning I monitored the embassy website hoping to see a suitable date, which eventually paid off. After going through all the formalities, the only and most nerve-wracking step remained—the meeting with the consul.
