Student exchange program — an agreement between educational institutions on the mutual exchange of students. For those hearing this for the first time, it will sound extremely unusual, and perhaps even fill them with a measure of fear, but now we will figure out why this should not frighten, but only attract.

Student exchange programs in the modern world are widely spread, and serve as the forerunners of the unification of many countries and religions. Totally different people, raised with unique upbringing and worldview based on contact with the population and traditions of their native lands, come together at one point – education.

Programs of this kind are available to everyone, depending on how much effort one puts into it. It is a unique chance to find yourself in a “different” world and turn your life upside down.

In a small vignette, a person — having received their lucky ticket. Arriving in another country, everything begins at the airport. They step off the plane and find themselves in extremely unusual conditions, which, by the way, contributes to the development of their inner boundaries. A taxi to the place of residence, and along the way many landscapes through the car window, completely extraordinary. Unusual houses, cars, people’s clothing — absolutely everything astonishes. In a new country, one’s own concept of aesthetics — studying the cultural plane is no less important.

In conversation people behave completely differently, different topics, different questions. Society carries with it its own unique rules. Many new acquaintances, again and again make you think — how different everyone is. But then comes the time for that which unites everyone — education.

How much new knowledge can one take away with the help of an exchange study program? Limitless. A year of life in another country allows a person not only to improve their language knowledge and abilities, but also to rethink their views on society, aesthetics, traditions, science, and even everyday habits.

I must not forget to mention an equally important side of this type of education, which is career growth. Development in another country gives the opportunity to gain individual knowledge. In every corner of our beautiful planet, there are different views even on how to bake bread. With work, it is exactly the same.

Each person, in their field, over time finds their “own” type of work based on their personal, professional, and life experience. The opportunity to meet masters of their craft who have found their calling in a direction similar to yours and exchange experience. This is true gold. Absorbing knowledge, a person blossoms like a tree. Some — like a sakura. They search for their path for a long time, and at one moment gently spread pink petals. As a result, a person falls in love with their work. In an unusual environment that forces a person to step out of their comfort zone, one can even rethink their views on work and understand it in a completely different way.

In my city there are many people who have chosen this type of education. Watching their path is no less interesting. Helping them learn and comprehend our way of life is like explaining to a child why the sky is blue. Their path is difficult, but insanely interesting. An adventure like from a children's fairy tale! They are accompanied not only by aesthetic moments of development, but sometimes by awkward funny stories. Shall I tell one?

One acquaintance of mine, having come from Canada to my hometown, was touring the nearby town of Sviyazhsk in my company. She visited many sights, took a couple of beautiful photos, and turned in to grab a bite. I took her to a cafe of genuine “Russian cuisine”. She chose only by which name sounded funnier. We settled on okroshka. I couldn't resist the idea of recommending she take Olivier as a second dish. You should have seen her expression when they brought the same thing, with kvas added to one of the bowls. For an hour we argued passionately and built almost world-shaping theories about how Olivier became a separate dish. During her life in

Russia, she never ceased to be surprised by our traditions, not to mention the turns of phrase that are understood only by Russian people. But over time, her speech became indistinguishable from ours, and she even managed to uncover the mystery — who the Russians are.

Now it is time to move on to talk about me. My name is

Kamila, and in my life I study traditions not only through foreign literature but also by an entirely new method. I work in children's camps focused on Chinese and English language and culture. I not only introduce children to the linguistic features of different countries, but also communicate directly with native speakers.

They tell many stories about the unique features of their native regions and learn about ours in return. The children, for their part, explore other countries with no less interest, as if they were actually there. My team and I confidently recreate the picture of another world, immersing the children in a fairy tale.

In the process of working in this direction, I have often wondered what it would be like to find myself in such an atmosphere in reality, as if I myself were a child.

After many thoughts, a picture formed in my head, and I confidently decided that such a study program is indeed interesting to me and suitable.

Getting to know a society and culture new to me will, first and foremost, allow me to develop myself. Living and growing in a country whose language and culture interest me is the best practice and guarantee of improving myself and my skills. Getting acquainted with the culture and society will allow me to spend my time usefully and interestingly.

Broadening my horizons will help me make changes and contribute to the development of internationalism in my country.

Breaking down internal stereotypes, initiative, social growth, and much more.

I would unite all of this under one golden word — experience. The events and emotions that I will live through and leave behind will, in the future, give me the opportunity to find a new side of my life.

I am full of a charge that will help me achieve success. A kind of engine that pushes me all my life to move forward and not stop in the face of any difficulties.

Participation in the program will help me develop in my field in the future. I study in the profile “Advertising and Public Relations. Activity in the field of mass media carries the burden of responsibility for what you present to society. Communication with many people from different circles, from the very young to the mature, teaches how to work with people. It is important not only to choose words correctly but also to present yourself as a good conversationalist. The student exchange program will help me better understand the features of the social structure of another country and meet wonderful people. This knowledge will help me look differently at how that very web that lies between people works.

Working in a language-focused camp itself implies the importance of studying languages and their peculiarities. You know, one child once asked me why dragons are so important in China? The legends I told him made the child listen with sparks in his eyes. And do you know what he said afterwards? I really want to visit there, the temples where they once lived!

Student exchange programs are actively developing, and it would seem that this is already a fully formed system. But I would add something absolutely unique to it. In my opinion, it would be interesting to create a structure not of a simple student exchange, but to create a university composed of groups from every country in the world! Imagine what experience each student would gain, having gotten to know the whole world in a year? The exchange of experience, information, and the heritage of personalities from each country would allow one to look at the world in a new way.

I conducted a social survey among acquaintances, and their opinions were divided.

Some said that this idea would allow the entire planet to develop socially and possibly unite the whole world. Such development, in their opinion, would affect not only the social growth of people but would also give an impetus to the development of science in the modern world, under the influence of the clash of completely different viewpoints. Others were slightly skeptical of this idea, explaining it by the fear of misunderstanding between different circles of society. After all, they grew up with completely different ways of life; how can you bring them together in one place without fear that they will stay within their own groups? I belong to the first group, and I myself would gladly participate in such a program.

Summing up the above, and outlining all the themes of today's narrative under one circle, student exchange programs are a unique opportunity not only for the individual but for the entire world. The world blossoms when viewpoints collide, and I would not refuse to contribute to this myself.

This direction of education has room to grow and develop. By combining the knowledge of the whole world, we expand our own possibilities. And perhaps, in 20 or 50 years, this will become commonplace, and in every country, the percentage of the indigenous population will significantly decrease, for the whole world will spin into one cycle, all together creating a unique system — the system of our planet earth.
