My story about the program: goals of my participation

Many people plan to see the world or go on a trip at some point in their lives and gain new experiences, but few ever get the opportunity to do so because of work, studies, or simple everyday problems. However, those few who have the chance to go abroad and see the world may not be able to do so until they are very old or retire. Therefore I want to touch on the topic of a program that would allow students to see the world while they are still studying at university, without being distracted by things like worrying about money, bills, or insurance. The program I mean is known as the student exchange program, which provides the opportunity to travel and work. The student exchange program allows a student to leave their country of residence and settle in another country for a time to work there. With this program in mind, I believe that students can benefit not only from seeing the world, but also from learning about culture, gaining unique opportunities, and learning independence.

The Work and Travel program — is an experience for working life. As a student I will gain important points in American working life that will strengthen my prospects for a future profession. I will have the opportunity for direct practice working in the most important market in the world. Based on all these facts, it can be said that international work experience always makes a person remarkable and gives them a lot of advantages in working life. The program gives the student a new outlook on life. Upon returning, the traveler will be able to form original thoughts and return to their homeland a different person with a completely new outlook on life after experiencing the atmosphere of another culture. In addition, when a person lives in a foreign country, they acquire invaluable real-life skills. All these statements prove that the Work and Travel program allows students to form new ideas about life. Taking all this into account, it can be said without doubt that, despite the fact that Work and travel is something new for us, it has brought many benefits to students, such as the opportunity to share American culture, gain work knowledge in addition to a completely new mindset in life. The program undoubtedly provides students with various important benefits, and with each passing day the number of its participants who return home with greater experience is increasing. Undoubtedly, one of the main advantages of participating in the Work and Travel program is earning money sufficient to cover program and living expenses, and even more — for trips, shopping, and so on.

My goal in participating in the program is both to expand my solid education and to create more opportunities for myself in the future, and to learn about another culture, as I have already mentioned above. Work and Travel has many advantages, such as the opportunity to get acquainted with American culture, gain work experience, as well as a new outlook on life. In addition, you can not only work, but also reward yourself by traveling around the country or beyond its borders after finishing work. Thanks to this I will learn what it is really like to live, work, and travel away from my home, not to mention earning a lot of money. Thus, the Work and Travel program benefits people's life skills, such as language skills, communication skills, and work skills. I am also attracted by the opportunity to study the language. After all, students can learn languages by talking with their employers or colleagues, and in some positions they have to deal with customers, which can be a way to practice the language. In addition, moving to another country can help to learn different languages and dialects. What I most wish for myself during the program is to develop my understanding. I believe that my knowledge and certain ways of thinking are sometimes superficial, since I was born and raised in a country where development is somewhat behind that of European countries. I have made a lot of efforts to develop my understanding, but I still think there is a chance to improve myself by participating in the program. Knowledge can be gained not only from educational institutions, but also through interaction and experience. I want to use the experience gained from the program in my future endeavors, because the experience gained will always be useful to me. The program will temper my working abilities and help me in my career. But the most important reason for my participation is the money earned from the program to fulfill the wishes of my loved ones, my family. They place great hopes on me and believe in me. In turn, I want to make them happy and justify their hopes no matter what. Besides that, fulfilling my own dream is also my goal. Namely, to save up for a car that I have wanted to buy for a long time. With which I will continue to go and open new doors for myself and learn our world. I also definitely want to visit the most densely populated city in the USA — New York. Because it is unique and creative. I really want to see the sights that tourists from all over the world travel for. Looking at all the attractions that can be found in New York and in the state of New York, one can easily understand why this state is one of the most interesting places to visit in the United States. Regardless of different interests, there will definitely be something absolutely magnificent in New York. Attractions such as buildings, skyscrapers, sculptures, make New York special. New York is a great city, surrounded by fashion, gilding, and glamour. Thinking of this city brings to mind Manhattan, which includes one world trade, Empire State Building, central park. One of the important things that can be noticed in the city is the mixing of different people from all walks of life. People of different races, nationalities, languages, religions, countries, and origins gather together in one iconic city. The idea of diversity and recognition among all people defines why I want to visit New York. I would like to meet and work with the most diverse people, opening my eyes to things I never knew. These are the goals that motivate me to move forward and seek different opportunities to achieve them.

A lot of people from different countries use this program to work and travel in a foreign country — the USA. The program gives you a unique opportunity to get to know the USA not through Hollywood films, but to truly feel it. To find out how Americans work, live, and have fun. To visit the most famous places in the world, enjoy unique nature, take part in iconic American holidays and festivals, have fun and travel anywhere — these are just some of the incredible things worth experiencing and leaving memories for a lifetime! If you want to see new places, if you want to improve your spoken English, if you want to learn something new, and if you are strong enough for such an experience — this program will suit you. I am sure that the Work and Travel program will give me a chance to become much more than just a tourist! Experiencing life in the USA, working side by side with locals — this is a real American experience that will help me in subsequent stages of life. I hope and believe that I will be able to participate in this program. Through my story I want to convey my desire and determination in this matter. I also want to thank the Center for International Exchange for the opportunity provided. Because it is this opportunity that will help me reveal a new side of myself and achieve my goals. To have the opportunity and the right to participate in the Work and Travel program and not do it at least once during your studies should be considered a missed opportunity.
