I moved into our "dorm," as we affectionately called it back when almost no one had a job, so we partied a lot and thought little about the future =)
July 8th.
Today, for example, we went on a hike. To who knows where. (Actually, no, I think it was about waterfalls). Almost in the evening. When we arrived, it turned out the last bus left in about 4 hours... and we still had to hike uphill through what was basically a jungle... But no one was upset, so we went.
It started off just fine. We climbed the mountain, found berries that tasted like strawberries but grew on bushes... and stuffed ourselves. As we walked, we kept finding them and couldn't stop =). As soon as we scrambled to the very top of the mountain and entered the hunting grounds (where it says "Dangerous" every 100 meters), we realized we were a bit lost... It was getting dark... The sunset in the mountains was, of course, beautiful, but we lost two guys, and two others went to look for them... We (the girls), to our indignation, were handed over to some hunter who led us out of the forest... We arrived home alone...
As it turned out later, the guys survived too.
July 12th.
Such a positive outcome clearly didn't satisfy anyone, so we set off for new adventures =). This time the initiator was Nikita, who called us in the morning... and everyone rushed off to another waterfall.
We stopped at Taco Bell (I'm starting to get used to Mexican food)... and then at a very beautiful viewpoint, where we tried to take at least one photo without hair in our mouths... which failed due to the strong wind =))))
We drove for quite a long time before the several-hour walk through the jungle with elements of crossing rivers began ))
We walked for about an hour and a half... We arrived... the height of the "waterfall" is about 4 meters, nothing supernatural. But there is a cliff from which you can supposedly jump. At first, we jumped from a low one - three meters. It was even fun. Then the guys got carried away to a ten-meter slippery ledge. It's very awkward to jump - there's nothing to push off from, you can't see where you're falling. The crowd below is applauding and cheering - no one but the Russians dared. After the guys, Katya went up. It's completely unclear why, but she's our lifeguard, she swims well. She jumped, and those below had a lump in their throats... she entered the water very badly (on her back)... she surfaced - her face was pale, her eyes rolled back. We pulled her to the shore - she can't walk. And we are in the middle of the jungle. We call 911, they answer, of course, we'll be there now. Good thing we asked how much a helicopter would cost (there's no other way there) - they answer - 3000 dollars. The guys carried her on their backs in turns.
Katya is groaning, she's being jostled constantly. We put her on a stretcher (made of towels) - we carried her. Locals helped - they showed us a quick route, and in the end, they loaded her into a truck and drove her to our car.
The scene at the hospital. They bring Katya in (without documents, as Ulyana and I couldn't find them). They keep her there for a whole day. It turns out she has a spinal displacement. They forbid her from physical exertion, prescribe a course of treatment, and let her go home... Katya returns with a bill for 4000 bucks (I still don't understand what supernatural thing they did to her besides an IV and an X-ray for that kind of money). Of course, her first and last name were written with 5 mistakes, and therefore she won't pay anything. For two weeks we took turns giving her massages at home, now she's running around like before.
Sacred falls.
This time we went to the "deadly" waterfalls. It all started with me desperately wanting to get out of Waikiki, and Yurka suggested going with Mark to a waterfall. (I must add that Denis wanted to come with us, who had just moved in and had been living on the beach in a tent before that)... but he couldn't take it and left alone that same night, and then we didn't see him for 2 days because he got lost in the mountains. Mark, by the way, has climbed the whole island and he would be the ideal person for hiking if he didn't have a habit of eating in supermarkets... he ate a piece of sushi and got caught, because of this we were delayed by about an hour... before that we were delayed for a few more hours for strange reasons that I don't remember now...
The main feature of Sacred falls is that the waterfall is in a gorge from which rocks fall... and a few years ago the park was closed because several dozen people were crushed by these rocks. But we went anyway. No rocks fell, the waterfall turned out to be big and beautiful =) Not counting the "NO" hiking signs every 100 meters and small fruit compositions that looked like sacrifices that we saw a couple of times, everything was just amazing)))
