CUSTOMS
-
When bringing something into Russia, if asked, say that you are bringing it for yourself. According to the law, you cannot even bring gifts for your own mother. Everything is for yourself. Everything is for you. We were interrogated because of a gift for a brother...

Do not order anything to be delivered to Russia by mail from the USA. My computer for my brother, which he needs for graphic design, cost:
$2900 for the computer itself
$600 shipping
$700 customs duty and VAT
$200 customs broker services
=
$4400 + nerves + five trips to customs + risk of seizure if they think you want to resell it + 1.5 months of delay at customs.
NEVER SEND ANYTHING BY MAIL FROM THERE. Parcels, of course.
