It's been a total mess. My flight to Hawaii took almost 17 hours, but since I was flying against the time zones, I left Newark early in the morning and arrived in Honolulu in the evening. Of course, it wasn't without its adventures... as we were approaching Honolulu, I got off the plane at the wrong island for my layover... I was strolling through the airport, checking out souvenirs in the duty-free... and it wasn't until 1.5 hours after my flight had departed that I realized what I'd done... I had dozed off on the plane and didn't hear the pilot's announcement about the transfers... luckily, they changed my tickets for free (and very quickly, which was important) and explained where to go... I'm so exhausted.
I arrived... and I'm in shock from Honolulu. I imagined a small village, neat bungalows with thatched roofs, and locals... but all I see around me are skyscrapers... wide roads... traffic jams.
"I love Honolulu," I think to myself =) I hopped on the 19 bus and got off somewhere in the center (Waikiki), having no clue where to go, but I ran into a funny guy who looked like Bob Marley, and he offered to help me find my way)) in the end, I ended up in his friend's white convertible, who looked like 50 Cent)).
The first night was super cool... I wish I could have seen the look on my face when they offered to take me up to the 32nd floor of the hotel, which had been booked for me for one night as compensation for the company's screw-ups...
The first night was spent on a king-size bed, at a bird's-eye view. A crazy, absolutely incredible view from the window, and total chaos in my head.
