Before our planned mini-vacation, we decided to take a trip to Philadelphia, a beautiful city with the famous baseball team, the Phillies, whose fan base grows year by year. My boyfriend and his friend went to a neighboring town and rented a car there. He can describe this trip better himself.
Finding a car would have been quite simple if not for some restrictive laws in the United States. We needed dealerships that allowed renting a car with a debit card at 20 years old, rather than a credit card at 21.
After a 3-hour walk in search of a car, luck finally smiled upon us, and we drove back in a brand-new Mazda. On the way, we picked up friends and headed to Philly. The drive took us about an hour. God bless the iPhone navigator! After our quiet Wildwood, Philadelphia seemed like an impressive and vibrant place where we had a great time with friends—the first impression was the unusual beauty of the multi-faceted fountains and alleys, and a street with flags from all over the world.
P.S. Since the flag of Kazakhstan was missing, we really wanted to fix this oversight, deciding that the Rocky Balboa statue would be a great place where our flag could proudly wave and complete the city's picture.
The road home was a much more exciting journey. Did I mention God bless the navigator? Well, here's a tip: before going anywhere, make sure to take a charger for all your electronic devices, because since we didn't do that, we paid the price...
As you might have guessed, the iPhone charger died, forcing us to wander around the city looking for the way out to begin with...
We left the city after dark, which didn't really help in finding the way home. After wandering for about two hours, we thought we found it, but we had to choose between turning right or left, and I decided to turn left...
After wandering for about an hour, we called our friend who stayed home so he could help us find our way to the road...
But even here, a trap awaited us—the internet decided to work at half-strength just today, so we had to wait a long time before it could open all the maps...
Then we drove onto some road with a large field and saw a police car ahead—and only then did we notice a sign on the road saying "Prison".... Our amazement knew no bounds.... After driving a short distance, I turned the car around and saw that the police signaled us to "stop," and since everything was fine with our documents, I calmly followed the order. I didn't forget to ask everyone not to be nervous and to take out either their ISIC, driver's license, or any document proving their identity...
For a few minutes, our nerves were under huge tension, and only after they asked us where we were heading did we seem to breathe a sigh of relief and quickly explained that we were lost... The police officer just chuckled and said that we had made a huge unnecessary detour and that we needed to drive back and turn right at the big turn, not left.... Mmm, well, you can't imagine how everyone looked at me... :)
So, after getting home in an hour and a half, I finally relaxed.... But now my friends and I know that all adventures really start with the phrase "I know a shortcut" :) :) :). Thanks for your attention).
