At 6 a.m., we were woken up by a call from the travel agency. They said we had to be at some hotel by 8 a.m. to be picked up.
The morning was really rough; we hadn't slept properly for three days, and only the free coffee at the motel office was saving us. We called a taxi and headed out.
A small bus picked us up, and later we transferred to a large, comfortable coach. We drove for quite a long time with stops. I spent the whole trip reading and listening to music.
When we arrived, we were told we had 3 hours. Those 3 hours flew by unnoticed. Everything is so mesmerizing that you just get lost staring at such beauty. Three hours is not enough. You could stay there for an indefinite amount of time. The color palette is stunning—so many colors in one place. It's hard to describe the emotions you feel standing on the edge of the Canyon.
Despite all the warnings, we climbed the rocks, went out onto ledges, and so on. In the face of such beauty, the fear of heights just disappears.
Anyway, my advice to you: don't miss the chance to visit the Canyon. It's just incredible, and I can say with full confidence that it was the biggest impression of the whole summer.
And then, if you are ever lucky enough to watch the greatest film, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," you'll think to yourself: "Damn, I saw all this in person, how I want to go back." Yes, the desert is like that. The desert is the land of newlyweds and the elderly living out their days.
