August 20th
Since Jen was driving, we had a parking problem, as almost everywhere parking is limited to 2 hours) After circling the neighborhood and not finding a spot, we decided to leave the car in a parking garage)) Thankfully, it wasn't far at all)
We walked up to the building, it had such beautiful glass doors and a concierge sitting there) We buzzed James on the intercom - the door opened) The concierge said hello and went back to staring at his computer with the security cameras))))) O_O
We arrived on the 8th floor, everything is so interesting)
James's apartment is a one-room, or rather a one-bedroom, or rather, like normal people have, a living room and a bedroom))))
Everything is so cute, there's a world map hanging, with pins marking the places he's traveled) And photos with captions of where they're from))))
Just as we entered the apartment, an SMS comes in: "If you need towels, they're on the couch," "If it rains, umbrellas are in the hallway closet," "And there's live music and free drinks at such-and-such park right now"))) Sooooo sweet)))
So we quickly showered and went for a little walk around the city))))
Washington is, like New York, something special, unlike anything else. It's a clean city, people walk around looking so well-groomed, decently dressed, and clearly educated) And in general, everything is so calm!)
It turned out the White House wasn't very far, we accidentally stumbled upon it)))) I was deeply struck by a grandmother sitting right there at the White House, protesting)))) For some reason, I immediately imagined a grandmother like that back home)) It even became funny to me))))
We admired the beauties of Washington))) We were already planning to go home to rest, and then I saw a huge sign on the wall of a building that looked like a church: "Open house". Well, if it's open, why not go in?
So we went in, and there were a bunch of books, computers, touch-screen TVs, and some strange-looking guy started enlightening us about some scientology, promising that our life would change once and for all!)))))
heheheh))) Of course) You just have to believe - and my whole life will change) We started slowly moving toward the exit, and he jumps out from behind a shelf saying, "Oh, I forgot to show you something else," and led us back to the very end of the hall again)))
In the end, by hook or by crook, we broke out of there with a stack of some discs, which immediately found a new home in a trash can around the corner! I just don't believe in all those things!))) But they probably make good money from it, since they have touch-screen computers there!)
We came home and told James about our adventures))))
And the three of us went to dinner, after having a shot of sake that James treated us to)) We had a lovely time, James is actually really cool) Talking to him is a pleasure!))) It turns out he never used Couchsurfing when he traveled, he only hosts people himself) I asked, "And what kind of charity is that on your part?" to which I got the answer, "When I traveled, people always helped me. You know, when you go somewhere, small troubles always happen. My travels, however, were perfect, the kind few people have) And this is my way of giving back. So I want, perhaps with some small help from me, for other people's travels to turn out very well!" ))) That's how it is!)
We came home, I was already thinking of resting, but that wasn't the case!))))
