So! It happened! A friend saved a friend! (c) Carlson
Here you are: decisive, having processed all documents at the Bank, paid the $300 entry fee, 5,000 for the "traveler's package" (which includes a SIM card, an adapter, 3 English lessons, a guidebook, and some other junk...)
Step 3 - job hunting! Even if you are going for the first time (like, ahem, me), don't take the program with job placement. Although, I won't convince anyone (since I signed up for "self" and paid extra for an offer that the CMO partners in America were supposed to find... and they did find me an offer! at a cleaning company in Virginia Beach. I don't want to say anything, because the offer exists - and that's great. BUT! when the consul asks "what will this job teach you," I will definitely blush, get shy, and giggle nervously... because lying that working as a toilet cleaner at a train station is the limit of my dreams... hmm, well, you get it)
So)) Literally in the first days after I signed up for the program (and paid extra for the offer), I started searching. I decided that an offer is good. It's for the embassy. But what if I don't like it? (which is basically what happened...) You need to have a choice and an alternative. And who will do something for me better than myself? (well, maybe Dad =)) )
So! Finding an employer is not difficult. It's harder to get them to answer. Half of the blogs have a list of sites where you can find that coveted offer. I won't add anything new to this list... but I can remove the unnecessary stuff. Personally, I used GoogleEarth. Tatyana recommended it (hello to you if you're reading this). A very useful thing... because from above you can see in what hole of the world this or that restaurant, hotel, cafe (underline as needed) is located. To use the program, you need unlimited internet... and that's basically it.
How I did it. I don't care at all where to go. Really.. mountains, forests, fields, ocean, lakes.. I believe that your vacation doesn't depend on the place, but on the environment and the person themselves. So I made a comparison table of all states, including Alaska and Hawaii. If anyone needs it, I'll send it. Spent about 2 days. It compares minimum wage, summer and winter temperatures, major cities, racial demographics, attractions, and some interesting fact about the state. I evaluated all the states, looked at pictures, read what the state is famous for, where tourism is developed, where there are unemployed and poor people... and decided that I need to go to the boonies))) I'm serious=) going, for example, to Texas or California - well, maybe to look, but to work there? I just imagined myself in the place of a restaurant owner. He is in LA. A bunch of Mexicans are wandering around looking for work.. they are already here and are willing to work for 2-3 dollars an hour. And I'm here choosing the one who can at least speak English... and then I get an email from some girl from distant Russia... where drunk bears walk in ushankas on the streets and scare passersby in red uniforms... and she writes that she wants to come to the states, that she wants to work for him as a waitress... will come for the summer, and then will travel.... Why would he even bother with a girl from Russia... then also send her an offer, register somewhere.. if there's a bunch of illegal Mexicans ready to start working right now?
