American parties
Once, I accidentally ended up at a party with an acquaintance for some girl who was being sent off somewhere for a few months. That's how I realized that parties in America are carbon copies of those shown in dumb teen comedies.
An American party is a gathering of people who barely know each other. It's perfectly normal to bring friends or acquaintances along. The hostess asked me whose friend I was, and I completely forgot the name of the guy who brought us there. It was funny when she spent fifteen minutes listing the names of people who had come to the party ;) But even when my friend said his name, the hostess looked up at the ceiling in bewilderment: "And who is this Tahir, may I ask?..". In the end, everyone thought I was a Russian spy because I was filming everything on camera and staying silent )))
Overall, the event was very boring - no music, just endless drunken conversations about booze and blouses (although I did find out that two of the guys had grandfathers from Ukraine). An hour later, we escaped and went to dance rock-n-roll at a club nearby (if you're ever in Washington, definitely check out Black Cat on U street - one of the best - and cutest - venues in the city).
They're boring, these Americans...
