Living in a hostel on Miami Beach was cool, but expensive... and there were a few downsides too... for example, the fact that there were two other people in the room besides us... and they were constantly changing!! You fall asleep - there's one girl sleeping in the next bed, you wake up - it's someone else... or there's no one at all! I was worried about my things... although, the truth is, we didn't have that many things to begin with! My luggage still hadn't been found by then... what was good was that there was a Laundry right in the hostel. How many evenings we spent there!! We didn't have many clothes, so we'd come back from work and head straight to the Laundry to wash... only that stupid laundry room worked poorly - it would wash okay, but it didn't want to dry the clothes! We tried everything! We'd load the dryer 5 times, throw in coins... and sit on the ironing board for 20 minutes, guarding our stuff! And that was 3 rounds almost every evening... until dark, basically)) The clothes absolutely refused to dry in the room! The air conditioner worked like a charm! It was even cold at night! During our short stay in that hostel, we really wore Damien out)))) Poor guy... the machine isn't washing - Damien, help! Need to leave bags in storage - Damien... need internet - Damien again)) cold in the room - Damien again.. but he had it especially hard with the laundry, of course: either there was no detergent, or our quarter got stuck in the machine, or it wouldn't wash, or it wouldn't dry, or we just invited him along for company)) He even learned how to say it in Russian - (forgive the accuracy of the reproduction) - "f***ing washing machine," which really surprised us )) We laughed from the heart, and the expression stuck again)) to denote insurmountable difficulties)) and just because.. he was a cool guy, we miss him.
And it was also good that everything was nearby: shops etc.. and especially the beach! My first swim in the ocean happened under the motto "crazy russians!!")) I remind you that my swimsuit was in my luggage, and the luggage was somewhere on the way to Miami... I was walking around the city in a black dress I had recently bought at Ross.. and so, after work, we had some time left to drop by the beach.. Nadya ran into the water, and I stayed on the shore with our things... she was swimming and calling me to join her... but how could I go - I was in a new dress, without a swimsuit... and if I got the dress wet, it wouldn't have time to dry by tomorrow... we all remember the damn laundry.... and it's a 10-minute walk through the city to the hostel.... what would people think... but after 10 minutes I didn't care that the dress was new, and after 15 - that it would be wet.. it's the ocean after all!! Nadya ran out to the shore, grabbed my hand, and dragged me into the water! We jumped in the water, caught waves... we were happy and having fun.... and then we walked through the city to the hostel)))) Water was streaming off me, I was smiling and wringing out my dress)) People pointed fingers at us and said "crazy russians" instructively and knowingly)) but we didn't care)) We arrived at the hostel, Damien asked if I was okay (..I really wanted to add: in the head...=) ) Of course, I was okay! It couldn't be better))
As for the rest of that evening, I think you can already guess... another evening spent in the laundry room... sitting on the ironing board, throwing coins into the Dryer, trying to dry my dress and Nadya's swimsuit... it didn't work again, we called Damien.. what followed was untranslatable Polish folklore...)) Tomorrow we are moving out and he won't see us anymore... people from the restaurant sympathized with our fate and decided to take us in for a while... for free, naturally.. it's an adventure... damn, we should have just stayed in the hostel back then...
