So, we started looking for a job by running around to every place where there might be one! We searched for exactly 5 days, and even then, not very hard )))) Basically, it's a jobless city and state!! In the end, we gave up on that rotten business and just spent our days and nights walking around the city, mostly at night )))) Basically, we were just messing around!! We only went to the beach a few times; the water was salty and the waves were huge. A few times we went to the shore at night and grilled sausages over a bonfire! We dragged some TV and a vacuum cleaner into our place, which we ended up smashing on the street—the TV with the vacuum cleaner ))) We often rode the tram without a ticket, though whenever a ticket inspector got on, we’d run straight to the exit ))) And that’s how the whole month of June went!!
I had this situation: I was running down the street—I just needed to get somewhere faster—and I noticed a cop driving at my speed, staring at me. Hmm... I didn't really pay attention to it, kept running, and suddenly he turned on his lights, pulled onto the sidewalk, blocked my path, jumped out, and shouted in his language something like, "Stop, hands behind your back!" I stood there, not understanding anything, and he walked up, put my hands behind my back, and cuffed me. I was in shock, what the heck!! But after 5 minutes of him talking on his radio and asking my name 20 times, he said in his language, "Sorry, we made a mistake." Hehe, made a mistake, damn it. I was about to leave, but then it hit me—no one would believe me if I told them—so I turned around, walked up to him, and asked to take a photo!! He even took a picture of me behind the wheel of his car! That’s the story!!
Let me tell you briefly about the apartment! 2 rooms, 1 bathroom, a big living room, and a kitchen! There were 6 of us living there! But we only paid 100 bucks a month; we rented it from an American! Each room had its own climate control—more specifically, a dial on the wall to make the air in the room warmer or colder!! If you turned it to the max, it was like a sauna!! We used to prank the girls like that; we’d go in at night, crank it to the max, and close the door )))) Basically, we weren't bored!
At the end of June, we decided to move to another city in search of work! We chose a specific city and found Americans through couchsurfing.org where we could stay for the first little while! The city was Bakersfield, 200 km from Los Angeles! We packed up and left on July 4th! To be continued in the next chapter )))
