When I got the newsletter notification about the blogs, like any good traveler, I opened my notebook and dove into hours of reading.
And when I reached the last page, I closed it and realized there was nothing for me to write in the blogs.
It's not that nothing happened, it's just... like the saying goes:
"Yeah, there's plenty to remember from your youth, but nothing to tell your grandkids."
So it turns out I can talk and reminisce for hours, breathlessly, but putting my feelings, incidents, and experiences out for public judgment is a bit ticklish.
Each of us will always have something left there that we'll only tell our closest people, something personal and real...
The thing is, America will turn out to be exactly what you expect it to be.
I met some very good American friends, fell deeply in love, left a piece of myself behind, and I hope to visit again at least once.
Otherwise, I also traveled, got lost, struggled with the language barrier, was amazed, got angry at setbacks, overcame difficulties, ended up in silly situations, believed, and was disappointed... basically, just like everyone else, right?
And this isn't exactly what I associate most with America, just small excerpts and notes, truly, in the margins.
And for those who are just about to go, here's my advice:
Believe that everything will be fine for you, and don't be afraid of anything - then you'll have the best summer of your student life :)
