I'll start this chapter, strangely enough, with a lyrical digression—I'm the kind of person who only understands everything by the end of the movie. Now, those heroic individuals who have read this far are doomed to long suffering.
I want to tell you about Her—the one who, without even meaning to, dragged me into the program. Her name is Zhenya, my classmate, nice to meet you. Yeah.
The essence of our acquaintance is that while all our friends were teaming up in little groups to go work in the same state, city, apartment, or room, we planned to do it differently. Not just differently. DIFFERENTLY.
I won't describe everything, or you'll have a heart attack (and those on their second, third, or fourth time will smile patronizingly and say, "You don't know what's waiting for you there, what America is, kids"). Nevertheless, everyone look at the blog title and suppress those condescending smiles.
Returning to what we planned—we decided to go to completely different places. We purposefully looked for work in different cities/states. And knowing the specifics of my intended job, it was clear I would be forever alone there. Looking ahead, but without showing my cards, I'll say that this plan of ours came true without any effort.
The second crazy point was (and still is!) the desire to arrive in NY early and get stuck there for 5 days (yes, roll your eyes once more =), while using the "services" of Couchsurfing, in which we see a million advantages—from free accommodation to real communication.
There are other points, but to hell with them.
Oh yes, I waited for the employer verification status confirmation, and it was NO.
