Unbelievable! I got my visa. I got a mean red-headed consul who had issued so many denials that I honestly had no hope left. My tongue, as expected, got stuck, and I was barely whispering my answers out of fear. Here is the dialogue: Me: Hello! Him: Hi! Where will u go this summer? Me: Montana. St. Mary lakes. Him: What do u study? (How was I supposed to understand 'what do u study'? Should I list my subjects? Or was it a question about my faculty?) Me: Moscow State Pedagogical University, philological faculty, my major is journalism. Him: How did u find this job? Me: I found it on the Internet. Him: I don't remember exactly how he asked, but something like 'Did you look for it alone?' Me: No, with my friend. Him: Does she go with u? Me: Yes. Then he mumbled something, wrapped the DS-2019 in my passport, and pushed it through the window. I thought, 'That's it, it's a denial.' I stared at him wide-eyed. And he was like, 'Oh, sorry, sorry,' and took the passport back. Phew! My happiness knows no bounds. #visa #J1Visa
