I used to work in a castle where all the rooms were in the same style as this one)))
The beds there had feather mattresses that had to be fluffed up, just like in the old days—and the whole bed-making system was ancient.
It probably took me about a week and a half just to remember which sheet went with which mattress cover)))
And those awful sheets—they were all different sizes depending on the bed. At first, I was constantly getting them mixed up; it was hard to remake the beds four times a day.
Once I got used to it, I started doing everything quickly and efficiently, but that was the moment I realized I was being paid by the hour)))) and I would do anything at work just to rack up more hours!!!!
That’s how all students are—when they first arrive, they work like horses, doing everything exactly as they’re told, but then they realize there’s no need to try that hard.
I still worked better than the Americans at that same hotel. When it was time to leave (I wanted to travel), my employer asked me to stay. I listened to her and stayed for another 4 days, but then I’d had enough—traveling before heading home is sacred!!!
They invited me to come back the next year, but I wouldn't want to work like that again—it was too hard, and they only paid 9 dollars an hour (before taxes).
By the way, in the middle of the summer, they gave me a raise for my hard work!!!! Guess by how much)) by 25 cents))) It’s a small thing, but it’s nice!!!
