August 20
I woke up this morning feeling so excited and happy!))) After all, Jenn is coming to pick me up and we're going to... Washington, DC together!) Did you think that was it???)) No way!
I wanted to spend my last weekend with my roommate, but I had shifts at work during those days. So we decided to spend the weekend in DC together!)
I called the guy from Washington a day in advance to make sure he hadn't forgotten that Jenn and I were staying with him) I've learned from experience that you always need to double-check!)
And I was right to do so: he had some business to attend to, so he left for New York! Since it wasn't too late, I hopped on the internet and found us another guy we could stay with) He gladly accepted my request) I really wanted to find the best place in Washington for Jenn and me so that everything would go smoothly!
And then Jenn arrived! Yay-yay-yay!!!
Of course, Jenn started chatting with Eric) She's planning to go to Europe next year, so asking for advice about Bulgaria and Georgia is a must!)
Finally, we hit the road, and I was so happy to tell her everything that had happened over the last few days))))) In no time, we were approaching the capital of America!
Roads in the USA are huge, and those interchanges scare me to death!) Thanks to the map Jenn printed out, we made it to Washington, but then it got worse... First of all, Washington is unlike any other US city, with its complex blocks, intersecting avenues, circles, etc.!) In the end, we got lost))) When Jenn doesn't know where to go, she becomes the heroine of jokes about women behind the wheel! Seriously!)))
Especially when she screams "It is extremely illegal!" while turning the wrong way and breaking some rule or other!)))
And then I remembered I had a magic book - the IEC.Exchange guidebook for America, and there are maps at the end of the book) And of course, there was a map of Washington there)))))) Yay! Salvation!)
It was getting close to 4 PM, so I called James (more about him later) and told him we had arrived) He said, "Drive to my work, I'll give you the keys, I'm still at work work address")" We found his workplace, he jumped out, handed me the keys and an A4 sheet of paper, and ran back to work—he looked really busy) From the outside, it looked like he was handing me drugs! Heheheh)))
So, about James) He is of Chinese descent, full-blooded)) But! Unlike most Chinese people, he is tall and big) He was born in the USA, so he speaks perfect English, no accent at all) He works in finance, is 30 years old, and lives in the Dupont Circle area (I'll say right away, the area is perfect - everything is nearby).
Back to my story. I open the sheet of paper, and here is what it says:
"To Tatsiana
What to bring: nothing
What to eat: everything you find in the fridge and on the shelves is yours
How to use the TV: blah-blah-blah
How to use the audio system: detailed instructions
How to use the home theater: blah-blah-blah
Keys:
- small gold one - for the door
- big silver one - for the rooftop pool and the sauna in the penthouse
- intercom - dial #***, that's a call to my phone - I'll open the intercom door for you"
Plus, there was a map of how to get from his work to his house!))
What?? A rooftop pool?? A sauna?? OOOO!!!! Shock! Just shock!) Seriously!) This doesn't happen!))))))
So Jenn and I, not believing our eyes, ears, or minds, drove to his house...
