81st Street - Museum of Natural History - a place where history comes to life...
Everyone has probably seen the movie "Night at the Museum." You remember Rexy (the cute little dinosaur chasing a bone), Dexter (the "kind" monkey), and Teddy (Roosevelt). It was so amazing to visit this museum! After all, an entire history, millennia, and a multitude of cultures are represented here!
Maybe some aren't big fans of history, and I wasn't exactly a star student in school either, although history always seemed like a fascinating subject to me—it's just that laziness always outweighed the patience to study (which I regret now). But you really need to visit the museum, because you won't find this many mesmerizing exhibits or get this many emotions from our history anywhere else!
The first time I went to the museum alone, I decided to stop by after work to see what I could manage before closing. But that didn't go as planned. I arrived at 4 o'clock, and the museum closes at 5. So, I had an hour. I could have seen something in that time, but I couldn't! That day, we had just been evicted from our cozy nest, and besides my giant handbag, I had two huge, heavy bags with all my essentials... And the coat check doesn't work in the last hour... so I would have had to drag all my belongings around... they weighed a ton!!! There was nothing left to do but sit on a bench, admire the elephants and other animals in the very first hall, and Rexy at the entrance ((
By the way, in the last hour of each day, admission to the museum is free, although there's no need to worry about that since, in principle, admission is a donation (paywhatyouwant), just like at the Metropolitan Museum. So you can go many, many times without going broke)))
I visited the museum a second time with Liza, on one of our last days. How I regretted leaving so much for the end!!! Because, as always, there's a lot to do in the final days, and we only had an hour left for the museum(( In the end, they were kicking us out! 15 minutes before closing, they started speaking over the loudspeaker in 5 languages (Russian wasn't one of them), saying we had to leave the museum... But we decided we didn't understand and would stay longer. Of course, we didn't want to hold up the museum staff, as they were tired, but maybe... we'll never be here again!!
Of course, we didn't manage to see everything, but what we did see left us in wild delight!!!
By the way, the museum has an event where you can spend a night at the museum... You need to book spots 2-3 weeks in advance... and this pleasure costs, I think, about 200 dollars... or maybe I misheard and it's cheaper...))))
Everyone, run to the Museum of Natural History!!!!!!!
