August 19
Woke up because someone was stomping up and down the stairs) Well, no point in sleeping!
Eric and I went to see the battlefield) It's like a historical monument, they protect this field so much!) even though only a meter-high wall remains of what used to be there!) But still, a historical monument)
We stopped by Jessica's, and when I saw her in uniform, for some reason I immediately remembered American cartoons where there's always a park ranger!) Exactly like that!) They tried to give me a tour, but I don't like boring and tedious storytelling) Eric had already told me everything about this war anyway!)
So I quietly slipped away to walk around the shops) didn't find anything special, but I took plenty of photos!
Eric went to work anyway, and while wandering around the city, I stumbled upon a very, very old house. And on the house, there was a sign: "Come in, there's a lot of interesting stuff inside, as well as many stories") Well, since they wrote it, I'll go in. As soon as I entered, a man came up to me and started telling me about this house, that it's almost the oldest in the city, 4 floors go down to the river, and that this house has been flooded up to the roof about 20 times))) But the most interesting thing is that there is a whole exhibition of what archaeologists found while excavating the bottom floor) These are coins and something really strange) So I went down to take a walk) Not a pleasant feeling, just a haunted house!)))
I went down to the very bottom floor, and there was such a tiiiiny little door - I stepped out - and there's the river! So beautiful!)
Exhausted, I went home) I arrived, sat for about half an hour, got a bit bored, and went out for another walk) Thought I'd walk around the campus some more) And afterwards, I visited the battlefield again, but that's not the main thing.
The main thing is that I found a military cemetery there) I just saw some kind of tower, wanted to take a picture, got closer - it's a cemetery) It turns out it's one of the largest cemeteries for soldiers who died in the Civil War. There are numbers written right on the small headstones. And since the cemetery rises in landscaped steps, there's a view of the Virginia state forests from the top! No matter how hard I tried to photograph this miracle, it didn't work out, so take my word for it - it's magnificent!
And in the evening, Eric, Alex, and I went to sit in a nice cafe) That's where I saw real students - the whole bar counter was packed with students (of legal age, of course))) And again and again, movies come to mind! Should have watched fewer of them))))))
We had a nice time with them, and then at home, they played their music for me) So good! They play right from the heart!
Oh, I'm even going to miss them)
