Hello everyone!
I know, I'm writing less often and not much these days. Sorry! But, essentially, the book is coming to its logical conclusion. So, these pages might not even exist anymore.
I've spent a significant part of the last week working on the book: editing, designing, and creating the cover. By the way, how do you like it?
I went to the beach a couple of times, swam, and sunbathed. I rode my bike to the university and concluded that it's very dangerous to get there by the highway — cars fly at crazy speeds, whizzing right past you if you're riding on the edge of the road.
I saw Ira a couple of times, and Kristina once. Almost all the guys I managed to ask have handed in their stories about life in South Africa. Including Katya. By the way, she's doing okay. She's studying. She says it's cold in Magnitogorsk and money is tight. She misses Cape Town.
They are filming some movie in Cape Town right now; they keep cordoning off roads, and a bunch of trucks with various filming equipment are constantly scurrying around the city. It's very curious, and a crowd of onlookers, whom I occasionally join, are showing great interest in all this action.
Last week I called Kirill, but he was working. However, he told me that an actor from the Harry Potter movie, who played Peter Pettigrew, was sitting right in front of him. Kirill even managed to get his autograph and learned from him that, besides him, Pierce Brosnan is also in town. Apparently, they are filming something together (on a side note: Kirill told me a long time ago that the house of the famous actor Steven Seagal is somewhere here in Cape Town).
I immediately rode to the restaurant at the Waterfront where Kirill works, but I didn't catch the Interesting Guests. They must have stayed for a few minutes and, without waiting for the public to swarm them, quickly took off.
Last Sunday I visited Tonya. We spent the whole day together. It was a good time. Maybe we'll meet again sometime. It was cool with her. She says she has been traveling in winter for four years in a row and hasn't lived at home in Ukraine. And all this time she hasn't had a cold winter. She told me a lot about herself and her future plans. I shared mine too.
THE FLAGSHIP IS BACK IN PORT
The flagship of the Russian fleet, Akademik Fyodorov, has returned to Cape Town for a second visit. And along with it, naturally, Alexey. On the weekend, he went out of town with Lizka and Edward, and yesterday we finally saw each other. He stayed the night at my place. They are setting off for Antarctica by Thursday, again for two months. In two days. But I hope we'll manage to do something in that time.
