Oh, how they praised Zion to us. They said things that made it impossible to turn away, or even close your eyes.) If you listen without imagining what it's like, it's a miracle. The embodiment of the most unrealistic dreams in the most wonderful place on Earth.
Personally, I imagined snow-capped mountains, blue rivers and lakes, fresh sea air, wonderful views, the smells of a freshly prepared lunch, with a modest surcharge for the honor of visiting it, McCartney, Jagger, and old Fidel sitting on the hillsides, and at least 12 beautiful naked women hidden in cozy caves. I just wouldn't settle for less, it was so good according to the stories))
In reality, it's a towering canyon of red-brown rocks, along the bottom of which, following a small river, you walk (or ride a bus). I felt terribly cramped and uncomfortable there. Probably the first time that's happened in a park. The width of the gorge is from five to 500 meters. And the height is nearly a kilometer. Periodically, as you move through the canyon, you can turn and walk along smaller and more interesting crevices. There is a lot of climbing, all sorts of things.
The road in the canyon ends at the riverbed. You can take a stick and splash through the icy water in search of its end (or rather, its beginning) (they say it's several tens of kilometers away). But few people do this, as walking is surprisingly boring.
It's more interesting to climb. At the penultimate stop, there is an excellent exit to the very top of the main mountain, from where there is the coolest breathtaking view and, in general, it is the coolest place in the entire park. It takes about 6 hours to go there and back, and there are sections where the width of the path is 25-30 cm, and on both sides there is a terrible, but cute, abyss)
And the higher you climb, the more interesting it becomes. There is more sun, more air in your lungs, the world plays with new colors forgotten for a couple of hours, and you slowly get out of this eternal semi-shadow of the Canyon, both in soul and body.)) So this is the place where you need to arrive very early to have time to climb without rushing.
We were told that you could also reach super waterfalls, but we didn't go, but headed to the hidden canyon. For some, walking was not even scary to say. Having looked at the statistics of deaths in the park and correlating it with the place where they ended up, for this someone, enduring this hike was deadly, unbearably terrible, and the feat itself was automatically included in the list of deeds in atonement for human sins.))
Polina screamed, squealed, grabbed passersby, but she made it) The hidden canyon, by the way, is really cute. Then we chose a cozy protruding rock and watched the sunset on it. Moreover, we watched it off by the reflections on the walls of the canyon, since the light had not reached here for a long time.
By the way, calculate your time so that you return in daylight, otherwise you will remain sitting in the mountains, because to risk walking back along such a road - you must be if not a suicide, then a person who has spent his whole life only doing that, bringing sacrifices to the gods of luck and fortune of all possible nations=)))
In general, the sun went down, milk was spilled in the sky out of habit, and with the calming of people, it was the turn of wildlife. Animals began to wander around the canyon. They either threw themselves under the wheels of the bus that was taking us back, or yapped and bleated right into the windows, and sometimes, like one fox we met, they chose excellent benches for an ambush in the very center of the Visitor Center. Huge respect to the super fox, taking this opportunity.))
Tomorrow was Bryce Canyon.
Having woken up and gone outside, we felt that something was wrong. No, it seems everything is just as hot and you want to sleep and eat just as much, but something was still bothering us. Exactly. The sky. It was completely covered in clouds that had long been unusual. To such an accompaniment, we left.
Bryce is a large amphitheater of giant stalactites-stalagmites in a cave, if the ceiling were removed from it. You can also walk there, but it's cooler to climb such a stalagmite (jump-jump and jump up) and sit there, surrounded by a precipice on four sides. Cool and scary, just terrible))
The park itself is beautiful, but in general no more - 3 hours and you can safely wrap up, unless, of course, you want to wind concentric circles along this bowl in which everything is located)
Okay, it seems that due to the weather, the last impressions are blurred. Enough of this, forward to the capital of cinema - to the Terminator in LA!!!
