Nadezhda Lebedeva
April 26

My main life motto, "don't panic," isn't working right now. Everything has shut down. It's just me and the embassy left. It's getting closer; in three days I'll know: yes or no. My documents aren't gathered yet, and neither are my thoughts. I'm trying to find clues on the internet as if this were Fort Boyard and I were Passepartout. For some reason, I can only imagine a negative outcome; I picture them telling me "NO!" This could happen because of my native language (it might get stuck in the wrong place out of fear) or because of the foreign language—it might just evaporate, and I'll be left there just gesturing foolishly. I want to pray to the Almighty, fall to my knees before the ambassador, do anything, just as long as they grant it!
