So, our journey is coming to an end. Unfortunately, we couldn't capture everything on camera or post it on the blog. Let these memories stay with me for a long time. Yesterday we finished our last day at our two jobs and received our final pay. Today is a free day for us to rest, clean the apartment, pack our bags, etc. Tomorrow we are heading to New York for five days!
As I wrote before, the most popular bus company in the USA is Greyhound. But because of its crazy popularity, they set high ticket prices. For example, to get from Damariscotta, where I am currently, I would have to pay 86 dollars. If you try looking for tickets from third-party companies, you can easily find a ticket for 59 dollars.
You might ask, why is Greyhound the most popular in the USA if it's so expensive? The answer is simple: the buses owned by Greyhound are highly comfortable, from the seats to power outlets for charging devices, Wi-Fi, etc.
Tomorrow we will already be in New York. The most important thing for me in New York is to fulfill my childhood dream—to climb the Empire State Building! I want to do it no matter what! We also plan to visit all the main attractions of Manhattan, as well as go to Chinatown and, of course, stop by Brighton Beach!
If anyone can recommend any other great places we absolutely must see in New York, please leave the information in the comments.
Starting tomorrow, I plan to update my blog more often, post photos, etc.
P.S. Regarding hostels. Hostels are a trap. If you are planning to travel after working in America, think about it long before your last working day. In the USA, there is currently a huge number of students from all over the world, each of whom worked all summer and then plans to walk around New York or go to Las Vegas or somewhere else, and they all need somewhere to stay. This leads to an obvious high demand for hostels, which in turn manage to increase accommodation prices every day in a steady progression. In the end, I will give the main piece of advice regarding hostels: if you want to save money and stay in a good place, plan your trip in advance and book all rooms long before your vacation.
In New York, we will be staying in Brooklyn at the YMCA hostel. It's a very nice spot with a great view of Manhattan. Due to a number of problems, we couldn't book the hostel in advance and save more money. We managed to book a room in the hostel for 40 dollars a night, while if we had done it two weeks earlier, we could have booked the same room for 20 dollars. Feel the difference? ))
Those are the latest news. As news comes in, I will try to write here, post photos on VK, and scribble something on Twitter! ))
