So, my summer has come to an end. It's hard to describe everything that happened here. It was just a colossal life experience. There were both difficulties and joys. Sometimes I even wanted to leave here as soon as possible, especially at the beginning. And I didn't care that I had been so excited about this trip for so long. But now I realize how valuable that experience was, even if it wasn't as rosy as I would have liked..
My flight is soon. I will board the plane and fly away from here... perhaps forever. Maybe I will never see these places again. I can't believe it, because it all became so familiar and even dear to me. It's hard to imagine being surrounded by Russian people again. I've only been here for 3 months, but I've gotten so used to everything that I can't imagine how I lived before.
Just a little more time, and I will see my parents and my loved one... How I missed them. Here in America, what I missed most were the people.. Friends, my partner, my parents. It was hard to suddenly break away from everything and dive into a different life.
Ahead of me is a 15-hour layover in London. I have high hopes that they will let me out to walk around the city. Although, to be honest, I don't really want to walk anywhere. I'm very tired from the last few days of running around) I want to arrive quickly and hug everyone.
But despite the longing for my loved ones, I realize that I will definitely miss America. I already miss it. Actually, so many plans remained unfulfilled; I would have liked to visit a couple more places, see more things, even in the cities I had already been to. America is immense. I think it's very difficult to visit all the interesting places in one summer..
Boarding, takeoff, landing. London. Super. Boarding again, takeoff. 4 hours on the plane with a bunch of Russian people. Landing. Baggage claim. Searching for family. Meeting the dearest people. Joy, tears, delight. A bunch of flowers. Home. Familiar walls. The cat. My bed.
Arrived - shower and sleep. Not believing that I am already home. Woke up, went to catch my partner from work to go for a walk.
What struck me immediately upon arriving in my homeland. I went to passport control, and there was an airport worker standing there. With such a gloooomy look. And she says with notes of irritation in her voice: "Well, citizens, move forward, why are we crowding, what is not clear here!.." The line is standing. From the crowd comes a dissatisfied exclamation - "What are they, asleep or something? There are a lot of people here! Work faster!..." Here it is, the Motherland, hello!!)) Yeah, I feel like I'm going to miss the smiling people there... even if they say it's all fake, but it's better to be fake than such aggression all around...
In conclusion, I want to say - I advise everyone to go on this program. You will never see a country from the inside, you will never feel it completely if you fly as a tourist. Plus, the trip won't cost you anything, almost. If you want to earn money - you can work without days off for 10-12 hours a day, it's your choice. But you definitely won't end up in the red if you have at least one job for 30 hours/week.
Don't be afraid to fly alone. I, of course, was very afraid to fly alone and envied those who flew with friends. But on the other hand, I had more English practice) And I can say with confidence that I improved my language quite well over the summer. I stopped being afraid to speak. And don't be afraid, you won't get lost in America, because there are always a bunch of good people around who are always ready to help.. or maybe I'm just that lucky)
Now I remember how it all started, from the moment I first got excited about going to America on Work and Travel USA, how I prepared for the trip, how I looked for an offer, how I shook because of the visa.. Then how I arrived, started to settle in, didn't notice how I lived through a whole summer... And reflecting on this, I can say with confidence - NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! =)
