Woohoo! We finally have an apartment for a whole month!
In the morning, the first thing I did was pick up Dimon from the hostel, and we headed to Sunny Isles. We met up with the girls—Yulia, Vika, and Ira—and checked into our room. A few words about this place.
Sunny Isles is a Russian neighborhood in Miami. That means about 50% of the residents are Russian, 30% are Mexican, and the rest are Americans and people of other nationalities. While Miami Beach and South Beach are typical party spots where the city comes alive at night and something is always happening, Sunny Isles is a quiet, calm, and quite clean area.
Almost all the space in our hotel room was taken up by two double beds. There was also a TV, a kitchen measuring one by two meters, a microwave, an old stove, and a bathroom. But the best part was that the hotel was located almost right on the oceanfront! You step out of the room, walk about 50 meters, and dive into paradise. It's awesome!
Other Russians lived in this hotel too, but we didn't really hit it off from the start. The reason was probably that they were high most of the time. Everyone entertains themselves however they can)
After checking in, we went to look for a place to make a copy of the key, since one key for five people is clearly not enough. After walking for an hour and a half in an unknown direction, we met a Spanish-Japanese guy named George, and what a coincidence, he also needed to make a key copy. George offered to give us a ride. Thank you, kind sir! As we said goodbye, he left his number, saying: "My son is leaving soon, and I'll need help with cottage repairs. I'll call you."
After checking in, I had about 80 dollars left in my pocket, so I urgently needed to find some kind of work.
The first two weeks followed roughly this schedule:
9:00 – wake up, swim in the ocean;
10:00 - 14:00 – job hunting;
14:00 – 14:30 – lunch;
14:30 – 18:00 – job hunting;
18:00 – 18:30 – dinner;
18:30 – 1:00 – rest, entertainment.
Since we had to save money strictly, our diet consisted of: pasta with ketchup, potatoes with ketchup, rice with ketchup, beans with ketchup, and sausages (8 for a dollar) with ketchup. Basically, everything cheap and with ketchup=)
