Since I used an agency for Work and Travel USA through my university in 2009, I decided to be smarter in 2010. The thing is, in 2009 I wasn't entirely happy with the services they provided or the Job Offer they found for me. Oh, and in 2009 I had issues with my employer in the USA. I quit my job, and they threatened me with deportation. At first, I was terrified. I wasn't even afraid of the deportation itself, but rather of not being able to return to America, and by that time, I had already grown attached to the country. So, after returning home, I decided to go again and change my sponsor so that if the embassy asked why I left my job, I could say I had problems with the sponsor there.
I don't even know why I chose CMO. Probably because many friends told me about it. I decided to look for a job myself. Or rather, not a job, but a fake offer, because I didn't want to have problems with managers of stupid fast-food joints anymore, who only try to scare you, saying, 'If you leave us, you'll never return to America, we'll deport you, etc.' Never listen to this nonsense. NO ONE can deport you for quitting a job because you don't like it there. I don't think it even affects future visas. But back then, I was really scared.
So, in order. We decided to go with my cousin, and we both needed offers. Finding a fake job offer on the internet is generally not a problem. The problem is something else – there are many scams. My first experience buying a fake one online was sad – my brother and I got scammed. We sent the money, and the person sent us the offers. Naturally, my brother and I submitted the offers for verification – I to CMO, my brother to his agency. A month later, I got an N/A mark, which means 'No Answer.' This meant that my manager in America, for whom I was supposedly going to work, had to call the sponsor in America and confirm that I was actually coming. That's when it turned out that such an employer didn't even exist. I started writing to the person who sold us the offers to get the money back, but he just stopped responding. Accordingly, I started searching for another offer, but within a few days, I found my status was OK, which meant 'everything is fine' and I could go to the embassy. Honestly, it was a bit scary to go to the embassy with a fake offer written by myself. But... I got lucky. They didn't ask me any unnecessary questions there.
It's hard to describe all the emotions I felt after the embassy. I did it – I'm going to America for the second time. All that was left was to wait for my brother's visa and buy plane tickets.
Plane tickets. That's where some small problems started. Since I was in my 4th year, I had to pass my state exams before flying to America. It turned out that buying tickets in early June for late June is very difficult (at a normal price). I was told that the cheapest tickets cost about $1200 round trip. I had to urgently find a solution. At first, I thought buying on the website would be cheaper, but it turned out it wasn't – because agencies that sell these tickets have direct discounts from airlines, so you have to buy from them. I started looking for any options to get to the USA, any airport, any layovers, any time of day. And I found it!!! On June 23rd from Kyiv to Boston, via Paris for 680 bucks. First stroke of luck.
My brother got his visa on the 22nd, I passed my last state exam, and on the 23rd we flew out.
We were flying to the USA with the goal of making a huge pile of cash in non-standard ways. More on that later.
