Time flies, and for some reason, very fast. Most of it, the captain continues to spend looking for work. Along the way, I completely got off "Russkaya Reklama" and moved to Craigslist, at least they write about relevant things there. And then, as always, SUDDENLY a thought came – why not try my luck at getting an internship at some prestigious company in my field? In this way, the captain applied for internships at IBM, CISCO, Microsoft (and for some reason the vacancy turned out to be in Australia O_o), Kaspersky Lab, New York Times, and somewhere else, I don't remember anymore. Only for some reason, they all don't call me, probably everyone's phone broke at the same time xD. Besides this, the captain's resume was sent to a bunch of other places. It's encouraging that such companies usually don't ignore dreamers like the captain; they always send a polite rejection email wishing good luck.
Well, while the giants of the computer industry are fighting over the captain's intern, the captain himself has been on a couple of interviews. The first place was the Vector Marketing group of companies. When I applied for the vacancy, I honestly didn't even look into what they do. I arrived, and there were about 10 other people sitting there writing something. A girl politely offered me a seat and gave me a form to fill out. This is exactly what I wanted to see! Again, remembering American comedies where various losers look for work. Large offices, many people filling out questionnaires with frankly stupid questions, and during all this action, they are playing Jackie Chan movies on the monitor xD. Very atmospheric. Then, as the forms were being handed in, a big manager guy comes out and calls people one by one for an interrogation. During the time I was there, looking around, I realized that this firm sells something to someone. Boards of honor on the walls, rankings of fabulous salaries, etc., characteristic of all sorts of Amways and Oriflames. The manager guy called me over and started trying to sell me something persistently. From his story, I realized that I hadn't watched the video on their website explaining the essence of the work. Alas. I won't say that I rushed headlong to watch this video, because working there seemed dangerous to me. He just had a sword of impressive size in his office. If he uses it for penalties...
The second firm also amused me. On Craigslist, it was listed as a seller. The first thing that comes to mind is a store of some kind. Going up to the third floor to some office, I even became interested. The atmosphere was present again. An elongated office with a dozen desks where people sit and constantly talk to someone on the phone, one louder than the other. It's hard to convey in words, of course. In the end, some Mexican guy took over the conversation with me and started asking if I knew how to sit on the phone. I honestly didn't know what to answer xD. When asked what their company does, he replied – "We sell money" O_o. Well... I must admit, intuitively, I had a desire to take a kilo and a half for a couple of bucks. I have no experience in selling money... excuse me.
Literally one building away from the money sellers is the editorial office of the "Russkaya Reklama" newspaper. I thought I'd drop by and see what kind of trolls with crooked hands are sitting there. I had the following dialogue with the woman at the entrance:
-Hello, where can I find your editor-in-chief?
-Hello, what is your question about?
-About work.
-The editor-in-chief is not here right now, he will only be here on Monday afternoon. As far as I know, we don't need anyone right now.
-Oh, believe me, you really do need workers . See you Monday.
TO THE JEDI, REGARDING DOCUMENT TRANSLATION!
Well, the notary office in Brighton turned out to be a pretty good notary office in Brighton. In half a day, they translated and certified everything for me. My certificate is executed on three branded yellow sheets, with all sorts of shiny stickers... it's a feast for the eyes. Of course, it was embarrassing to look at my grades again... but to hell with it, the main thing is that I have it. For such work, it's not a pity to give 40 green rubles, because they do everything competently, promptly, and talk to you as if you owe not 40 bucks, but 40 thousand bucks, very politely.
A call to Camb, the issue is resolved. On June 21st, my training begins, all documents are ready. Whether there will be any benefit from this is not yet known, but experience is never superfluous. And so you can congratulate me – the captain is the first Jedi to get into a GOVERNMENT AGENCY for employment and all other troubles. Whoever doesn't want to get a job, you can brush up on your English there for free.
