An interview at the US Embassy/Consulate is an important official meeting, so you need to meet certain standards. In the first seconds of the interview, the consul will evaluate you based on your appearance. I understand that the interview is a very important and exciting event for each of us, but with proper preparation, everything will be great! =)
Although there is no dress code that guarantees you a visa, there are certain recommendations:
Girls.
Girls should pay special attention to their clothing. Why? Because Russia is home to the most beautiful girls in the world! And the consul's task is to find out if you have immigration intentions, and a beautiful girl in the consul's eyes might have such intentions: what if she is going to charm an American and marry him? =)
What to avoid?
- Evening hairstyles
- Overly strong perfume
- Bright makeup
- Deep necklines
- Tons of gold and precious stones;)
- Mini skirts
- High heels
- Flashy manicures
What to wear? - Blouse without a deep neckline
- Cardigan
- Knee-length skirt/trousers/jeans
- Low-heeled shoes / other comfortable footwear
Guys.
It's simpler here: you shouldn't dress provocatively, but I don't recommend wearing a tuxedo either =) Something in between will work.
General recommendations and what to wear:
- Hair: washed and combed
- Shirt/T-shirt (if it's already quite warm outside)
- Thin sweater/hoodie
- Nails: clean and trimmed
- Trousers / jeans
- Shoes / other comfortable footwear
And of course, it makes sense to shave) Because three-day stubble is not presentable at all 🙂 That's basically it! Good luck =)
And I could use some too..)
