Today was my first day working as a mover.
Hillstrom moving company handles apartment, house, and office moves, etc. The work is not easy( The schedule is unstable, so you have to be on call constantly. (the communication part is a whole other story)
Meeting the colleagues /
Bobby - 36, European American, office manager, accountant)
Note * you can only find native Americans, i.e., Indians, on reservations. I haven't seen a single one....
Yaniv - 31, nationality unknown, BOSS. Speaks unclearly(
Gary - 29, Colombian, mover. Has been in the States for 7 years. A good guy :) Bought me some water since I forgot my money at home. Constantly asks how I'm doing, if it's too hard ))) Overall, a normal guy and speaks quite clearly, though with an accent.
- I thought I'd improve my English, but it's just Mexicans, Colombians, and Poles here(
John - 28, African American, driver/mover, kind of the boss:) When I first saw him, he was arguing with the boss... there was a lot of swearing!~ RAP is playing in the truck !!!!!!! Which is totally destroying my brain ..... aaaaaaa John drives dangerously! Doesn't spare the truck, 75 mph on the highway !!!!!
Note * it's funny that there are very few road signs in the USA ~ about 6 types, the rest are just text!!!! For dummies!!!
Getting a driver's license is super easy, just 50 questions and you get 20 of them! That's probably why there are so many idiots on the road :D
Practically any labor here is rewarded with tips))) For one move, a regular mover like me ;) gets $20-35, and sometimes they even feed you)
Worker on !!!
