August 4

I've been thinking, I'll write about the present mixed with what happened before. I haven't read other blogs yet, just minimal time. In short, it will look like parallel editing in movies and TV shows, where the main character indulges in, or even falls into the arms of, memories.

Today I had a double, those present don't need to be explained 'what it is and how it's eaten'. Half a day in the kitchen, in the evening I worked as a busser (I assume the readers also have an idea who that is - an assistant waiter). I need to take into account that my ear hurts terribly, the right one. It flared up to such an extent that it forced me to test our insurance offered by IEC.Exchange yesterday, that's right, it works here.

When we entered the hospital, I was in SHOCK immediately - it was clean, the light was somehow romantic, no queues, it looked like a country castle from the outside, two minutes to fill out a form about myself and straight to a specialist, a bunch of monitors, I was examined by three doctors in a row. I asked 'is House coming soon?', after which we all laughed together and I was sent to the pharmacy with a prescription, and that's where the catch is. Our insurance covers the examination at the local hospital, but not the medication, which we spent a very long time clarifying with the pharmacist, I paid $70 of my hard-earned money and went to get treated.

All this wouldn't be a problem if today there wasn't an unspoken contest announced: 'talk to the busser and get a discount'. Of course, this didn't actually happen, but that was the impression. Today, for the first time, a customer noticed my accent; before that, I managed to speak well and not give myself away. And as you understand, I'm not the best conversationalist - a hard-of-hearing Russian, with pain in his ear and all sorts of pus or matter - that's just so I don't ruin your appetite.

Oh yes, my guys are leaving the land of dreams on August 16th, and our car is being sold as a result. Also, on Wednesday I bought myself a laptop with a multi-touch display, and my friends bought an iMac and a bunch of Apple products, but that's a completely different story...

This described a working Saturday and this week in general.

P.S. Cotton swabs are EVIL, the real deal, or maybe I just overdid it on Monday leading to acute otitis, take care of yourselves and don't use cotton swabs, I'm serious.
