New York City leaves an indelible impression, both day and night. During the day, you get distracted by businessmen and model-looking accountants rushing through red lights to make it back to work from lunch. But at night, you see everything. Your eyes involuntarily drift up to the illuminated Empire State Building, mesmerized by its silent history, and you step into a puddle of unpleasant sludge. You look at the bright signs and bump into tourists taking photos. You look down at your feet and see steam rising from the sewers, the grates shaking with the sounds of the subway train passing underneath. All the subway cars are covered in graffiti, and not the prettiest kind—I'm afraid it's just like the graffiti in the Russian metro.
But you know, all of this together creates such an unbreakable source of inspiration that you don't want to leave. When you divide the world into the tops of skyscrapers and the asphalt, you clearly imagine what you should strive for.
