Hello everyone again! :) Today I will tell you about my first steps in the USA :)
On May 30th, I arrived in New York. During the flight, I kept tracking where I was on the screen) There were many guys on the plane with me who were flying through the Work and Travel program. We chatted on the way, and you could easily see the excitement in everyone. Everyone was with CMO. And this is not surprising, because CMO is very reliable and has been delighting students for many years
I recommend them to my friends
The flight was long, I had a layover in Moscow. And finally, I heard the cherished words that we had landed. Sitting on the plane, I couldn't believe that I was in the USA, so far from home.
When we got off the plane, we went to control. At the window, a nice gentleman asked me only where I would live and work, when I was returning, and wished me a good summer. Then I went and picked up my luggage. My aunt and uncle were waiting for me at the exit. In this regard, I was lucky to have acquaintances. But! Guys, don't be afraid to fly alone. In New York, everything is fine with transport, you will get anywhere. On the plane, you will surely meet someone and travel together. The main thing is not to be afraid! :)
I was in New York around 3 PM. My aunt and uncle lived 40 minutes from New York. On the first day, I just rested, chatted with relatives, and went to sleep
In the morning, I woke up in a good mood and early in the morning
On my first day, I went to a wonderful place: “American Museum of Natural History”. This is a truly worthwhile place! If you are in NY, go! :) The ticket costs from $22 and up. The price depends on which halls you want to visit
But the place is really cool, I especially remember watching the movie. The unusual thing was that the movie was playing on the ceiling and it was about the universe
It creates the effect that you are as if in space. It was incredible. (it was forbidden to take pictures in this hall :(
I also visited the hall where there were many, many butterflies
Then there was a walk around the city. )
I went to M&M’s World. My childhood dream came true. A bunch, a bunch of candies!!! I just walked like a child with huge eyes and took a little bit of different flavors. And as a result, it turned out... 3 kg
I ate this with my friend for a very long time
I also bought headphones and a cool mug. There are not only sweets in this store. You can buy a blanket, a mug, headphones, and many things with M&M’s symbols. You can also take a picture in a photo booth :)
After that, not far away was the Disney World store. There I ran around like a little girl again and looked. There was so much joy in my eyes that it's impossible to convey
A sea of toys, from all my favorite cartoons. It was something! Be sure to go there and return to childhood
Afterwards, we walked along Times Square, Broadway. There were many strange people in costumes there, with whom you can take pictures (not for free, of course). You can meet both favorite characters (minions, for example) and just promiscuous girls. In general, the color is huge
But it attracts with its unusualness. You can even play chess on the street with someone in a costume
I also saw very strange sweets in the store. A lollipop with a bug inside and other delights. It's hard to describe, so I'm posting a photo. You have to see it))
After walking until the evening, I went home with Lizzy. The day was busy and we were tired. After eating the pepperoni pizza popular among Americans in a pizzeria, we headed to the bus that was going to Furlong (I think that was the name of this city, where I lived for these 3 days with my aunt).
And the next day I decided to go to the 9/11 memorial, dedicated to the tragedy of 2001. I didn't go alone, but with Natasha. She was also going to work in the same place as me. She is from Moscow. We ordered tickets online and met at one of the subway stations. The subway in NY is insanely dirty, but it is very lively. Many singers, dancers, musicians. I met beggars who had better phones in their hands than I did
)) it was very fun )))
P.S. I met Natasha through the social network VKontakte. The girl who sold us the offer to this park also gave us the contacts of people who would also go there from Russia. We created a common chat and supported each other
It was very cool.
A place dedicated to the memory of the 9/11 tragedy cannot but touch you. You walk and realize that you are as if reliving this tragedy. Everything is in chronological order there, i.e., you can see how it all started and what it all came to. There is a hall where they talk about the people who died there. In the last hall, where everything is already destroyed, it was very difficult to be. A terrible tragedy! This place is a must-visit! Indescribable!
Natasha and I planned to go only to the museum, but then we wanted to go to Chinatown, Little Italy, Central Park. We ran from place to place. We were very tired, but we managed to do a lot in a short period of time
Central Park is very huge, but it is so magical. You can walk around it for hours. We walked through the center of the park
In Chinatown, there was nothing special. Many Chinese people
We drank Bubble Tea there and smoothly moved to Little Italy, where there were many Italian flags and pizzerias) The hardest thing is to navigate the subway. Advice: if you are going somewhere, check the subway station you need to go to in advance. Trains don't run very often there. And also important: don't accidentally go in the other direction. Don't be afraid to ask passersby if you don't know or doubt where you need to go.
After a long walk, we went home. In the evening, Lizzy picked me up by car with her friends. They went to show me their school. I managed to see it only from the outside. There is a huge field, just huge, like in the movies! Athletes in America are honored. If you are a cool athlete, you can study at a university for free. For this, the athlete must defend the honor of the university. Universities fight for such students. It was very unusual for me how the guys communicate with each other. Their communication is so loud, emotional, just like teenagers and young people are shown to us in movies
This was my first experience communicating in such a group.
After such a long day, I went to bed and fell asleep quickly.
On my next day, when I was supposed to go to my place of work, I packed everything I needed and went with Lizzy and friends to the lake. It was a wonderful place. Forest, lake, music. A wonderful sunny day. After noisy New York, to such a quiet place. This moment showed me: how different America is.
After that, I returned, packed my bags, and my uncle took me to the departure point of my bus. There I met Natasha. We crawled onto the bus and were ready to leave.
Attention: dress warmly for buses! The air conditioning there works to the fullest! It's so cold inside that it's hard to imagine that it's hot outside. :( Take care of yourself and don't catch a cold like I did.)) But that's a separate story.)
Also, people on the bus don't talk, they keep quiet (specifically on long-distance buses). There is usually wifi and a toilet
Everything so that the road is as comfortable as possible. :)
So, full of energy, Natasha and I set off for West Yarmouth, Cape Cod.
