You won't believe it, but I'll even fit a page for this. Yes, even here there's room for some clumsiness.
The thing is, because of my late interviews with the employer and the consul, I had to buy my ticket in a rush. To be precise, I planned to fly exactly one week after the embassy visit - May 29th. A few days before the interview, a ticket was booked, and we extended the reservation daily. After getting the J-1 Visa, we wanted to purchase it, but in reality, I was supposed to receive the visa the day after the embassy visit. We had to extend it again. And the next day, arriving with my passport and the visa in it, we found out that some major decree had come down from above to cancel all reservations for these flights, or maybe all flights. I didn't quite grasp it. In short: "Fly on June 1st." But I needed to be in Montana by June 1-2 ideally, and I still had to see New York. Not an option. We demanded they find our reservation. How so? The reservation existed, and now it's gone?
Do you feel it? Do you understand how a clumsy trip smells even before flying to the States? And in principle, all this is just the beginning. Although after a few days of searching, the ticket was finally found, my nerves were still a bit frayed.
