My summer of 2014 turned out to be the most interesting and educational. I believe I was very lucky to be on the list of participants for this program. Upon arriving in America, I still couldn't believe or grasp that I was actually there, and it took me a long time to process it. It had been a long-held dream to visit this specific country. The program gives every student the opportunity to fulfill their dream and gain immense experience in literally everything: improving conversational English, working in the service industry in another country—where everything is different, somehow more interesting, and more fun. By talking to students from different countries, you learn about their various traditions, customs, and culture, and you make new friends. Arriving in another country all alone, you try to navigate various situations because you know that your parents and loved ones aren't nearby; you make all the decisions yourself, thinking everything through to the smallest detail. You learn to live on your own, take care of yourself—to "survive," so to speak—and this makes you an independent and responsible person. All of this is a great experience in your life.
