Well, you don't have to look far to see how Americans do it. They can create a celebration here and now. Just because they feel like it.
But speaking of the summer season, one cannot fail to mention Independence Day. They can't help but celebrate this day. I don't know how it is in big cities, maybe parades and so on, but in the suburbs, the whole day was ordinary, and by evening people organize bonfires/picnics/trips to nature and all that. For example, we got together with Americans who work in boat rentals on the shore of that big Lake McDonald, which is 5 minutes away from us, and went to their trailer. A trailer is what is called a motorhome. As they told us, Americans consider it shameful to live in a trailer and have such friends. But, it seems to me, it's so much fun! The evening was spent by the bonfire with alcohol and pleasant company.
We went to the dorm at 3 a.m. And that's despite the fact that I was working at 6 a.m. the next morning... Lovely. Well, how should I say working? I walked around the kitchen for 1-1.5 hours with a green face, like a zombie, and in the end, Julia sent me home. At that moment I was still one of her favorites, so she said she understood me, saying, "You were celebrating yesterday, go get some sleep." Thanks to this day off, my schedule changed in the future and I got that coveted day off for the World Cup final. And again, everything happens for the best.
And what did I mean about the holidays they want to make themselves? Do you know when Halloween is? October 31st, yes. But some Americans and program participants didn't want to wait, so they held it on August 11th. How do you like that? :)
And so on August 11th, we all dressed up, put on costumes, and headed to a real American Halloween.
Some, admittedly, came without costumes and just, pardon, to booze, but others approached this matter as seriously as possible. And so it turned out to be very fun. Music, costumes, and just a lot of fun and crazy people.
Besides everything else, several times a week, Americans 21+ consistently head out to clubs to party hard and drink. Clubs and bars are everywhere. Even in our suburban areas.
