I decided to get back into the gym, so I started looking for something close to home. We live a 10-minute walk from downtown (which they just call 'town' here), so most gyms are pretty expensive. I checked one out – it's 500 rand a month (the exchange rate is about 6 rubles to the rand). I checked another one – 570R, but the manager started asking where I'm from and where I work (the usual questions from people who hear a foreign accent). I said I work as a bartender at Big Route, and it turned out that Marlon (another bartender I work with) is a regular there. So they gave me a 200 rand discount =D So I'll be starting my workouts soon =))
