The summer of 2015 will stay with me for a long time because it was filled with events and adventures. Thinking back now on how I ended up in America, I am truly surprised that everything happened so unusually. I had heard about this program before, but I hadn't seriously considered making this trip happen. I was busy studying abroad and dealing with endless exams and various club activities. I heard more details about the Work and Travel USA program from a close friend after she spent a summer in America. I will call my friend K in this essay. Her emotions were overflowing when she talked about her adventures. It was also impossible not to notice that K had changed. She became more open and smiley, and her worldview had shifted slightly. Over the years, I realized that I had perhaps never seen her so free and happy. I was a bit skeptical about what K was saying. Looking at her, I realized that she had lived and made friends with wonderful people who were close to her in spirit and outlook on life. But even after her story, I didn't have a strong desire to go to the USA. My thoughts were occupied with an upcoming trip to Europe, and I was looking forward to it. Therefore, I didn't want to mentally prepare or think about anything else. From K's stories, I understood that she wanted to return. She wanted to breathe that air again and take a deep breath. She wished to experience that euphoria she had been in once more. I was happy for my friend, because K had found a place and people with whom she was happy to spend her time. And it wasn't because she loved them more than her family or friends. It was just that K wanted to experience freedom and become a child again. I came to these conclusions when I visited the USA myself.
By coincidence, I decided to go to America. At least, to try. K was sure that I wouldn't have any problems. And I prepared myself that if option 'A' with the USA didn't work out, I would have options 'B' and 'C' ready. I wasn't worried at all; for me, it wasn't something crucial. I figured that, in any case, everything would turn out for the best.
