If you haven't started your adventure in America yet, or are just thinking about it, or are feeling a bit panicked and nervous before the trip, here is a list of pros that will leave you with no doubts:
- You will earn back the cost of the program at any job, even if it is full service;
- The lucky and hardworking ones will even bring cash back home;
- Your conversational English will undoubtedly improve;
- You will learn how to find a way out of the most unusual situations and realize that nothing is impossible in this life (read my story about how a tour guide left us without connection or money in San Francisco on page 10!);
- The flood of emotions, new friends, and photos to make all of Facebook and Instagram jealous goes without saying:)
- And also travel, travel, travel!
I want to warn you immediately about the American mentality. Many have probably heard stories about their friendliness, smiles, and free candy at bank receptions. It seems they are always ready to support a light, friendly conversation (even if you are seeing each other for the first time) and come to your aid. Of course, upon returning home, you start to miss their simple-mindedness. However, be careful. For many Americans, this is just a mask, and when it comes to close interaction, it turns out that they won't help you with serious matters (if it doesn't bring them any benefit), and they retell all personal conversations to your bosses that same evening. For example, how tired you are at work or how you didn't really like the schedule. That's how it's set up in America - to report everything. An easy way to become a favorite at work is to report on your colleagues daily. Of course, not all Americans are the same; I met quite a few intelligent and truly kind-hearted people. Just be careful and don't talk too much.
Guys, don't be upset, even if your job offer takes you to the most remote corner of the USA - it turns out this is no obstacle to traveling and having an unforgettable summer. Don't believe me? Check out the photos!
