Traveling light or with a packed suitcase?
Hello everyone, my dear readers! Today I would like to share my opinion regarding the suitcase you should take to the USA. When buying tickets, you might have noticed that flying with carry-on luggage and without a large suitcase is often more profitable, as foreign airlines often charge about $100 for a suitcase. Let's analyze how to do it better.
Approaching this issue, you need to decide what you really need at first in the USA. I will write down my necessary minimum:
- personal hygiene items;
- shorts, socks, a couple of t-shirts + jeans, a t-shirt, sneakers on me;
- laptop (a controversial point, but my work is connected to it, so I can't do without it);
- immersion heater (I already wrote why it is needed);
- instant porridge;
- medications (everyone knows for themselves what they might need).
That's basically it, I hope I didn't forget anything.
Is it possible to fit all this into carry-on luggage? Yes, it is possible. We buy a large bag (like the one we go to the gym with), pack it. In airports, in 90% of cases, no one weighs carry-on luggage, so you don't have to worry about the weight. If anything, you can take out a heavy item next to the scales and take it in your hands (I did this with a jacket).
I recommend buying mugs, dishes, and other heavy items in the USA.
Already towards the end of the program, a question related to the suitcase may arise. After all, most likely, you will buy many things in the USA that will no longer fit into your carry-on luggage. What to do? Buy a suitcase right in the USA. In my case, I ordered an excellent 28'' suitcase on Amazon for only $45. I found it with a discount, as it had small, in my opinion, but large, in Amazon's opinion, scuffs. Here is how it looked:
A new one like this cost about $100. The courier delivered it to my door. I successfully packed all my things into it and flew back to Russia. Then it served me more than once.
What is the benefit? I saved $100 on the ticket, but at the same time bought a suitcase for $45, which remained with me.
Thus, I would like to advise you to think carefully about buying a ticket to decide for yourself whether you need to pay for a suitcase or if you can buy it on the spot. I am not urging anyone to fly light or with a large suitcase, but simply sharing my story. I am sure each of you will be able to choose the best option for yourself. If you are flying with a friend or girlfriend, you can take one suitcase for two, and buy the second one on the spot.
That's all. I wish you rational purchases and an easy flight! #travel #USA #tips
