Finding housing in the USA
Do you think your housing in the USA is expensive or uncomfortable? It's time to change it! In this article, I will talk about three effective ways to find housing in the USA.
Method #1 - Craigslist
Craigslist is the site that should pop into your mind every time you think about looking for housing or a job. The search mechanics are simple. Go to the site, select your region, and type "find housing" in the search bar, or you can use specific search terms like "housing," "room for rent," etc. The site provides information on current listings; check the price and location, and if it suits you, give them a call.
Method #2 - Maps
I consider this method one of my favorites because, thanks to it, I was able to find excellent housing where it was practically impossible. The mechanics are also simple. Open maps, preferably Google Maps, and type "hotel," "motel," "housing," etc., in the search bar to get a list of nearby places. Call them up.
Pros: Most small motels don't have their own website or only have one for formality, so you won't find them on the first pages of Google.
Method #3 - Local FB Communities
We all use social media daily and have surely noticed groups with names like "residents of Moscow district" or "Kudrovo inhabitants." In the USA, it's generally the same. The mechanics are as follows: go to Facebook, enter the name of the place where you live, join the community, and post an ad on the wall about looking for housing. You often come across worthwhile offers or advice from local residents.
Not recommended:
using booking, airbnb, and other sites if you are looking for housing for more than a week, as these services require prepayment;
paying more than a week in advance.
