We arrived quite late, and it was already dark outside. It's hard to find good accommodation for a reasonable price during peak season here, so we took care of it in advance. We took a taxi from the bus station, not knowing at the time that we were living on the next street over
We managed to find the house somehow, as it was very dark and we had only seen it once in a photo. After a short chat with the landlady and our new neighbors, we checked in successfully.
We pay $100 per week per person for the accommodation. We have a room for two, a shared bathroom, a living room, a kitchen, and a balcony with a gorgeous view (my favorite place in the house). We live with guys who moved to the USA many years ago; they live in Philadelphia (a couple of hours' drive from our city) and come to Wildwood for seasonal work. Recently, our Russian-speaking friends moved in with us. In the end, we've become a big international family
By the way, the house's location is very convenient. The beach is ten minutes away, and our restaurant is about fifteen minutes away (but more on that later).
What can I say about our town?
A typical American tourist town located on the Atlantic Ocean coast. Wildwood is famous, first and foremost, for its huge beach with pristine white sand. The total length of the beach is 2.9 kilometers. Mostly, Americans from nearby states and Canadians vacation here. The most popular and noisy place in the city is the Boardwalk. It's an entire street (the local promenade) that is packed with various cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, arcade games, etc. There are also three small amusement parks on it. Personally, I only managed to ride one roller coaster; the rest are still in the plans, and I had enough adrenaline (it seems I've become too timid lately
).
Personally, my great love is the huge sandy beach and the pristine ocean. On the beach, I always feel like I'm in some American movie: waves, seagulls, handsome surfers
, and a bunch of Americans in swim trunks with the American flag
Every day you can see dolphins here, as they are practically not afraid of people, lots of crabs, and a couple of days ago I almost stepped on a stingray
