To start with, this is what you'll be doing for almost the entire summer, so choose wisely. It's best to pay attention not only to a good salary but also to the working conditions, the team, and most importantly, whether you actually enjoy the job!
My main job was housekeeping, and to be honest, I wasn't thrilled—cleaning just isn't my thing. I got very tired and was completely exhausted by the end of the summer! But what saved me was that my employer was very kind, and the team was always supportive and helpful.
My second job was at a pizzeria, where I worked as a server. I went to this job with pleasure. I loved interacting with people, the fast pace, the great relationships with colleagues and management, and the good pay—overall, nothing but pros! But it's also very hard work; everything has to be done quickly, you have to be very polite with customers, have a good level of English, and you're on your feet all day long!
But that doesn't mean the housekeeping position isn't good; it just didn't suit me. Many of my friends really liked that job, so choose what works for you!
Everything is learned through comparison; maybe you need to try it first to understand. But the main thing is, if you don't like the job and you're suffering there, just find another one. There were many cases over the summer where I or my friends did this, and the program sponsors will always help you.
