My story about the program: goals of my participation

Many people plan to see the world or go on a trip at some point in their lives to gain new experiences, but few ever get the chance to do so due to work, studies, or simple everyday problems. However, the few who have the opportunity to go abroad and see the world may not be able to do so until they are very old or retired. Therefore, I want to touch upon a program that would allow students to see the world while they are still at university, without being distracted by things like worrying about money, bills, or insurance. The program I am referring to is known as the student exchange program, which provides the opportunity to travel and work. The student exchange program allows a student to leave their country of residence and settle in another country for the duration of their work there. With this program in mind, I believe it can be beneficial for students not only to see the world but also to learn about culture, gain unique opportunities, and learn independence.

Work and Travel is an experience for professional life. As a student, I will gain important points in the American labor market, which will strengthen my perspective for my future profession. I will have the opportunity for direct work practice in the most important market in the world. Based on all these facts, it can be said that international work experience always makes a person remarkable and gives them a lot of advantages in their professional life. The program gives a student a new outlook on life. Upon returning, the traveler will be able to form original thoughts and return to their homeland as a different person with a completely new perspective on life, having been in the atmosphere of another culture. Furthermore, when a person lives in a foreign country, they acquire invaluable real-life skills. All these statements prove that the Work and Travel program allows students to form new thoughts about life. Taking all this into account, it can be said without a doubt that even though Work and Travel is something new for us, it has brought students many benefits, such as the opportunity to share American culture, gain work knowledge, and experience a completely new mindset in life. The program undoubtedly provides students with various important benefits, and every day the number of participants who return home with great experience increases. Without a doubt, one of the main benefits of participating in the Work and Travel program is earning enough money to cover the costs of the program and living expenses, and even more—for travel, shopping, and the like.

My goal for participating in the program is both to expand my solid education and to create more opportunities for myself in the future, as well as to learn about another culture, as I mentioned above. Work and Travel has many benefits, such as the opportunity to get to know American culture, gain work experience, and a new outlook on life. In addition, one can not only work but also reward oneself by traveling within the country or abroad after finishing work. Thanks to this, I will learn what it is really like to live, work, and travel outside of my home, not to mention earning a lot of money. Thus, the Work and Travel program benefits people's life skills, such as language skills, communication skills, and work skills. I am also attracted by the opportunity to learn a language. After all, students can learn languages by talking to their employers or colleagues, and in some positions, one has to deal with clients, which can be a way to practice the language. Furthermore, moving to another country can help in learning different languages and dialects. What I desire most for myself during the program is to develop my understanding. I believe that my knowledge and certain ways of thinking are sometimes superficial, as I was born and raised in a country where development is a bit behind that of European countries. I have put a lot of effort into developing my understanding, but I still think there is a chance to improve myself by participating in the program. Since knowledge can be gained not only from educational institutions but also through interaction and experience. I want to use the experience gained from the program in my future endeavors, as the experience gained will always be useful to me. The program will temper my work abilities and help me in my career. But the most important reason for my participation is to use the money earned from the program to fulfill the wishes of my loved ones, my family. They have high hopes for me and believe in me. I, in turn, want to make them happy and justify their hopes no matter what. Besides this, fulfilling my own dream is also my goal. Namely, to save up for a car that I have wanted to purchase for a long time. With which I will continue to open new doors for myself and discover our world. Also, I definitely want to visit the most populous city in the USA—New York. Because it is unique and creative. I really want to see the sights for which tourists from all over the world travel. Looking at all the sights that can be found in New York and New York State, one can easily understand why this state is one of the most interesting places to visit in the United States. Regardless of different interests, there will definitely be something absolutely magnificent in New York. Sights such as buildings, skyscrapers, and sculptures make New York special. New York is a great city surrounded by fashion, gilding, and glamour. Thinking about this city, one remembers Manhattan, which includes one of the world's trade centers, the Empire State Building, and Central Park. One of the important things that can be noticed in the city is the mixing of different people from all walks of life. People of different races, nationalities, languages, religions, countries, and backgrounds come together in one iconic city. The idea of diversity and acceptance among all people defines why I want to visit New York specifically. I would like to meet and work with a wide variety of people, opening my eyes to things I never knew. It is these goals that motivate me to keep going and look for different opportunities to achieve them.

Many people from different countries use this program to work and travel in a foreign country—the USA. The program gives you a unique opportunity to get to know the USA not through Hollywood movies, but to truly feel it. To learn how Americans work, live, and have fun. Visiting the most famous places in the world, enjoying unique nature, participating in iconic American holidays and festivals, having fun, and going on a trip anywhere—these are just a few of the incredible things worth experiencing and leaving memories for a lifetime! If you want to see new places, if you want to improve your spoken English, if you want to learn something new, and if you are strong enough for such an experience—this program is for you. I am sure that the Work and Travel program will give me a chance to become much more than just a tourist! Experiencing life in the USA, working side by side with locals—this is a true American experience that will help me in subsequent stages of life. I hope and believe that I will be able to participate in this program. Through my story, I want to convey my desire and determination in this matter. I also want to thank the International Exchange Center for the opportunity provided. Because it is this opportunity that will help me discover myself from a new side and achieve my goals. Having the opportunity and the right to participate in the Work and Travel program and not doing it at least once during your studies should be considered a missed opportunity.
