Work and Travel is actually not just a trip abroad or 'hard labor' for the whole summer that makes you feel sick from the very first days... Work and Travel is an invaluable life experience that will reveal and showcase your character, willpower, communication skills, and independence. Personally, I wanted to prove not only to my parents, but first and foremost to myself, that I was already an adult and could live my own life, even if only for the summer. I wanted to test my resilience and determination... because, in essence, I was a terribly insecure person, and it was hard for me to commit to anything serious because I was simply afraid I wouldn't be able to handle it... And you know what? Now I am a completely different person! It might sound a bit pretentious and loud, but America really changed me for the better... well, not exactly America, but the experience I gained and the difficulties and problems that my friend Asel and I had to face during our entire time in the USA... and believe me, we had quite a few of them... But, undoubtedly, this country will also strongly influence your outlook on the world and life in general, because they have a completely different mentality and upbringing. For example, I started to take many things much more easily, and I am no longer so worried about what people think of me. What I like about Americans is that they enjoy every day of their lives without getting hung up on problems... they are always good-natured and friendly, regardless of whether they like a person or not... and they live life to the fullest, without fear of judgment or misunderstanding from others... it's wonderful! I am insanely happy that I had such a wonderful opportunity to go on the Work and Travel program to America, and I would love to visit again, because this summer, these 2 and a half months of my life, were among the best and most exciting... this summer will forever remain in my memory... summer 2011...
